Scott Libersher Soars to 2018 NMCA Coan Engineering Stock/Super Stock Championship

Posted By: Mike Galimi
Among the racers who run two categories at events is Scott Libersher, who sails to win after win in NMCA Holley EFI Factory Super Cars and NMCA Coan Engineering Stock/Super Stock. The doubling-up is demanding, but he doubled-down and drove to the Holley EFI Factory Super Cars championship in 2017 and the Coan Engineering Stock/Super Stock championship in 2018. In Coan Engineering Stock/Super Stock competition in his eye-catching silver, black and gold 2018 COPO Camaro with Ed Rinke Performance Parts on the sides, he made it to the semifinal at the season-opening event, the 16th Annual NMCA Muscle Car Mayhem in March at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida, where he broke out with a 9.25 on a 9.26 dial against Jeff Anderson. From there, the Illinois-based driver who attended all six of the events on this year's NMCA tour, posted a 9.32 on a 9.38 dial to runner-up against Ricky Pennington at the 17th Annual Quick Fuel Technology Bluegrass Nationals in May at Beech Bend Raceway in Kentucky, followed by a 9.23 on a 9.28 dial to secure a semifinal finish against Daryl Bureski at the 13th Annual Nitto NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl of Street Legal Drag Racing in July at Route 66 Raceway in Illinois. Despite an oh-so-close red light and early exit from eliminations at the final event of the season, the NMCA World Street Finals in September at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indiana, Libersher landed the 2018 Coan Engineering Stock/Super Stock championship. The multitalented multitasker also earned a third place finish in Holley EFI Factory Super Cars, with his son, Leonard Libersher, right below him with a fourth place finish in Holley EFI Factory Super Cars. I'm very proud of winning the Stock/Super Stock championship, said Libersher. There were a lot of great drivers and a lot of tough competition. Watching the weather, dialing-in and close competition made it very exciting. A lot of races came down to reaction time and thousandths of a second. I need to thank my wife, Kim, the most. It's been a couple of busy years with the two world championships. We're coming out stronger and faster for 2019. Libersher and his accomplishments will be celebrated at the NMCA Muscle Car Nationals presented by E3 Spark Plugs Awards Ceremony presented by Aerospace Components, Dec. 7 at the Indiana Convention Center.
