Posted By: Event Coverage Team
Coming off a successful 50th anniversary event last year, the party continues in 2020 with the return of the 2nd Annual COPO Camaro Shootout at the NMCA Muscle Car Nationals thanks to continued support from COPO Parts Direct and Chevrolet Performance. The prestigious competition and get-together will go down during the Nitrous Supply NMRA/NMCA All-American Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park (Norwalk, Ohio) over the weekend of August 27-30, 2020. The Chevrolet Performance COPO Camaro Shootout presented by COPO Parts Direct is open to all COPO Camaro vehicles (tributes/clones permitted) from 1969 to present with activities that include a drag race, exclusive Aerospace Components Winners Circle experience, racer happy hours, special celebration luncheons, and a free parts raffle. NMCA's honored to once again have the largest gathering of COPO Camaro vehicles participate with our series, said Steve Wolcott president and CEO of the National Muscle Car Association. Chevrolet Performance and COPO Parts Direct are key partners in the factory racecar business and we're more than happy to help them keep the COPO program roaring down the race track for the fans. The facility to host the shootout is dubbed as America's Racetrack, Summit Motorsports Park is a premier national event drag race facility in the U.S. with massive paved pits, perfectly manicured car show grass, and first class race track amenities. This special event takes place the weekend after the world-famous Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit and one week before the NHRA U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, setting the stage for the ultimate motorsport road trip. COPO Parts Direct was so impressed with last year's 50th anniversary celebration that we immediately jumped on sponsoring a 2nd annual event to bring together our COPO Camaro owners said Mike Lawrence, Operations Manager at COPO Parts Direct. We've been a partner with Chevrolet on the modern COPO Camaro since its inception in 2012 are we're proud to make the COPO Camaro Shootout a yearly tradition. The COPO Camaro Shootout begins on Thursday, August 27, as competitors roll into Summit Motorsports Park and are parked in pre-reserved pits. Racers will be treated to a Test & Tune followed by a Racer Appreciation Happy Hour & Ice Cream Social featuring Norwalk's iconic 1-pound scoops of ice cream! Friday features a day of drag race qualifying with a COPO Camaro Shootout luncheon, presented by Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center, followed by an end of day Happy Hour and free parts raffle with upwards of $10,0000 in product up for grabs exclusively to COPO owners. On Saturday, August 29th, things heat up as COPO Camaro Shootout eliminations begin with another lunch break presented by Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center.
