Maximize Power and Reliability with Maxima Racing Oils
Successful drag racers are a knowledgeable bunch. They know how to make power, keep the engine alive and find their way to the winner’s circle. Doing such takes experience and understanding of the sport and the mechanical aspects. And one piece of the puzzle that can never be overlooked is lubrication.
Every race car, and street car for that matter, requires lubricants. Engine oil is the obvious one, but there are lubricants in the transmission (automatic and manual), the rear end and let’s not forget wheel bearings and suspension joints. A quality oil or grease will prevent wear, but a quality high performance lubricant will do the same and free up power by reducing losses from parasitic drag.
Maxima Racing Oils was created for those world-class racers, men and women who challenge the limits of possibility. Their demands on equipment drive us to look beyond conventional ideas and to exceed industry standards,” said Tory Zamakhovskyaya of Maxima. “It’s in our DNA to identify problems, formulate solutions and execute at the highest levels of competition. A simple goal to make things better than ever thought possible.”
Maxima believed it could change lubrication and the company has been in racing for over a 43-year journey. Superior technology transcends sport to enhance the experience of consumers and racers alike. “Our market-leading products are used in over 50 countries around the globe and include engine oils, suspension fluids, coolants, care products and accessories. These products represent our commitment to excellence and a passion for redefining what is possible.
Maxima is a race-inspired, product driven company,” Zamakhovskyaya added. “We formulate, develop, manufacture and distribute high performance oils, lubes and ancillary products. The essence of our brand is communicated through hundreds of championships with world class racers, tuners and teams who rely on Maxima for unsurpassed performance in high-stress conditions without fail.”
Founded in 1979 and headquartered in Southern California, Maxima is recognized as one of the most coveted brands in the racing industry. Decades of active involvement in professional racing has led to powerful technology and a full array of market leading products. The company continues its heritage by playing an active role in the sport and racing communities. “We strive to deliver superior quality for the recreational athlete or world champion.”
Oxidative stability was improved by making advancements to the antioxidant chemistry that prevents oxidation of the oil and by selecting even more oxidatively stable base oils than the exceptionally stable base oils used in the outgoing products. The already potent dual-molecule antioxidant system was further improved by both improving the efficacy of the chemistry and increasing the amount of chemistry used. These upgrades have successfully been shown to improve oxidative stability over the previous oils and key competitors.
The new oils were first and foremost designed to make machines faster, at the heart of which is an exclusive and proprietary friction modifier system with a high affinity for metal surfaces and low affinity for clutch plate material. This advanced system is able to improve power, while having a negligible detriment to clutch friction. Through extensive testing, we were able to achieve the necessary balance between “clutch friction increasing” and “crankcase friction decreasing,” allowing for maximum power output from the engine and maximum transmission of power to the rear wheel.
Deposit control was also improved, in part due to the increase in oxidative stability. Oxidation byproducts are known to form the precursors to unwanted deposits, making oxidative stability the new oils’ first line of defense against harmful buildup. An additional and significant step to improve deposit control was a complete overhaul of the dispersant system, which are the components responsible for keeping contaminants from accumulating on engine surfaces by “dispersing” them throughout the bulk oil. The new dispersants, produced by a completely different and novel process, provide 100% improved cleanliness per unit concentration, drastically reducing engine deposits.
