The best Super Stock and Stock racers in the Red Line Oil NMCA Drag Racing Series will face a challenge from the stars of the Great Lakes Stock-Super Stock Association during the upcoming NMRA/NMCA Power Festival at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Mich., July 20-23.

Similar to the NMCA vs. Buckeye Stock/Super Stock Allstars, presented by A&A Transmission, which will be held in Norwalk later this season, this special event will pit the best drivers from the Micro Strategies Super Stock and Micro Strategies Stock classes against the leading contenders from the Great Lakes Stock-Super Stock Association (GLSSA).

The Great Lakes Stock-Super Stock Association will bring eight Stock racers and eight Super Stock drivers to the event including current points leaders Randy Running (Super Stock) and Brett Saurbaugh (Stock). The rest of the Super Stock field is expected to include Brad Zaskowski, Darrell Ciaravino, Charley Downing, Zack Running, Shane Zaskowski, Matt Hewitt, and Kyle Jeltema. The field of Stock contenders consist of Craig Saurbaugh, Bobby Lundholm, Mike Sheehan, Tim Bettinghouse, Dan Coville, Grant Saurbaugh, and Modified eliminator legend Paul Mercure, creating an All-Star field in the Micro Strategies-backed categories.

The event will be held on Friday, July 21, and the entry fee will be $50 with a payout of $1,200 to the winner, $600 to the runner-up, $250 to the semifinalist, and $125 to the quarterfinalists as well as a $50 bonus to the team champions. The winner will also receive a coveted NMCA Victor award and a photo check.

The field will be set with 16 Stockers on one side of the ladder and 16 Super Stockers on the other side. Round one pairing will feature a GLSSA racer against an NMCA racer and eliminations will take place until there is one Stock racer and one Super Stock racer remaining.

The top four drivers from the NMCA Micro Strategies Super Stock and Stock classes will be automatically seeded into the field and they currently include Mark Nowicki, Dennis Breeden, former NHRA world champion Amy Faulk, and Joe Ewing in Super Stock. The Stock top four consists of Bruce Boyle, George Cox, Dave Swanson, and Randy Eakins. There will also be four other drivers in each class randomly selected to participate.

The event marks a perfect opportunity for class racers to participate in two separate events on the same weekend as Great Lakes Stock-Super Stock Association racers must enter either the Micro Strategies Stock or Super Stock classes to be eligible for Friday’s Shootout race.
