Chevrolet Performance Challenge Series Spellbinds at NMCA All-American Nationals

Posted By: Event Coverage Team
Drivers of the Chevrolet Performance Challenge Series and NMCA joined forces to deliver a double dose of action at the 16th Annual Honeywell Garrett NMCA All-American Nationals, Aug. 24-27, at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio. In Wiseco BoostLine Connecting Rods Drag Radial, where unpredictable cars command attention, reigning class champion Anthony Manna muscled his Camaro to a 4.39 to lead qualifying. When he exited competition early, however, he opened the door for a final round featuring Andy Essary and his Trans Am and Ray Litz and his Camaro. Litz landed the win with a 5.02 to Essary's 5.15. While Camren Massengale drove his Corvette to a 4.68 to lead qualifying in Holley EFI Real Street, the final round featured Jessie Coulter and George Farkouh, both driving Camaros, and Coulter edged Farkouh out with a 4.68 to Farkouh's 4.76. Jesse Wilson powered his way to a 10.09 in Kelly Pierce's 2015 Camaro to lead qualifying in Chevrolet Performance Stock, presented by Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center, and he remained on point on his way to the final. There, he won with a 10.15 over Haley Rounsavall, who ran to a 10.22 in her 2013 COPO Camaro. ProForm Rumble'saw Gary Alfrey post a 12.25 on his 12.25 index in his GTO, but when the dust settled, Nicholas Massengale drove his Camaro to a 12.04 on a 12.00 index to defeat David Rickey, who dipped under his 11.25 index with an 11.24. Josh Bryant drove his Mustang to a 10.25 on his 10.25 index to lead qualifying in LME Street King, and then made his way through the rounds and to the final. There, he lined up alongside multi-time champion Al Corda and his consistent Camaro, and at the top end, Corda cruised to the win with a 10.08 on his 10.00 index while Bryant recorded a 10.36 on his 10.25 index. Because of rain during the 16th Annual Quick Fuel Technology NMCA Bluegrass Nationals, presented by Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center, in mid-May at Beech Bend Raceway in Kentucky, the semifinal and final rounds for Wiseco BoostLine Connecting Rods Drag Radial were completed at Summit Motorsports Park. The win went to Anthony Manna, whose Camaro clocked a 4.39, while Andy Essary was the runner-up in his Trans Am with a 4.49. The next stop on the captivating Chevrolet Challenge Series tour is the 9th Annual Holley LS Fest, Sept. 8-10 at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
