Arrington Performance Challenger Scores At NMCA Georgia event

Posted By: Event Coverage Team
The Dodge // Mopar Hemi Shootout held during NMCA events attracts lots of new racers, as well as some who have seen the drag strip plenty. One of the latter is Mike Copeland of Arrington Performance. While Copeland can usually be found at the Arrington Performance trailer on the manufacturer's midway during NMCA events, he took a break from meeting with the public to do a little racing of his own.
Taking the whole sponsorship activation concept to a new level, Copeland brought his 2019 Dodge Challenger down from Michigan to Commerce, Georgia, to make some test hits during the Dodge // Mopar Hemi Shootout held during the Scoggin Dickey Parts Center NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals presented by MAHLE Motorsport at Atlanta Dragway. Copeland had the Arrington Performance staff equip the Challenger with a 6.4-liter Hemi engine fortified with Arrington Performance camshaft, piston, and rod upgrades, as well as a CNC-ported 6.1 intake manifold that receives boost from an air-to-water intercooled Vortech supercharger. It is Vortech's standard Challenger supercharger kit, and despite only pumping out 7.3 pounds of boost, it delivered a whopping 738 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque to the wheels on a Mustang dynamometer thanks to an Arrington Performance custom tune delivered via HP Tuners software. During the Dodge // Mopar HEMI Shootout, Copeland collected 11.34, 11.00, and 10.95 time slips that gave him a winning average of 11.102 seconds. Copeland noted that with the traction issues he was having, there is about four tenths of a second to shave off in the first 60 feet of his run and doing that should put his Challenger deep into the 10s.
