Everyone gets excited when new cars roll out of the trailers, and we spied Chris Cantrell's Beautiful '67 Mustang as it emerged from it's transport. Cantrell is here to shake down the car, which he plans to run local LDR and ODR competitions near his home in Anderson, South Carolina, and will be entered into Mickey Thompson Radial Wars this weekend. The Mustang features a billet 600ci Ford big-block with Kaase Boss 9 heads, a Hogan Sheet metal intake, and two kits of Nitrous Outlet NO2, all of which is controlled via Holley EFI. JP Automotive in Greenville, South Carolina, built the pony, and hopefully we'll see the team throw the full 1,800 horsepower at the track this weekend. This Atlanta event brings the championship debut of the NMCA's Pro Stock class, and throwing his hat in the ring in addition to running in Nitrous Pro Street this weekend is Don Baskin. The trucking mogul previously owned the Jerry Haas-built Oldsmobile chassis, and bought it back in its current C-Altered Comp Eliminator status to run in Pro Stock. With that, Baskin sent the 358ci engine to Tony Bischoff who opened it up to the class-allowed 400 cubic inches, and the bullet is backed up in the car by a Liberty five-speed. That last bit will be the tricky part, as Baskin told us that it's been some 21 years since he's driven a stick car. Hopefully, it's a short refresher course. It's all hands on deck for the Fiscus/Klugger Racing team this weekend as they are fielding three cars between the team's two drivers. Josh Klugger is making a run for the VP Racing Fuels Xtreme Pro Mod championship this year, and he is also driving his Racecraft-built, 5-second notchback in Mickey Thompson Radial Wars. Fellow FKR teammate Kevin Fiscus will be piloting Chris Matters' turbocharged and modular-powered S197 Mustang in VP Racing Fuels Street Outlaw this weekend he'll be jumping back into the Pro Mod ranks this year when the team's second Pro Mod chassis being built by PMS Race Cars in Puerto Rico. Longtime 10.5 racer and blower aficionado Tony Johnson picked up Terry Leggett's former PDRA/ADRL machine a few years ago and the team has been slowly making progress on the build every since. The Conyers, Georgia-based team is working with a new Lenco/Bruno transmission and a new blower combination for the 526ci Brad Anderson Hemi engine, which is tuned by Atlanta Speed Shop in Gainesville, Georgia. Two-time Pro Bowler and current Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Fletcher Cox is with us this weekend and his team will be competing in Mickey Thompson Radial Wars with his Goldust-tribute Mustang. Shawn Ayers (at left) will be piloting the Mustang and DiSomma Racing Engines is responsible for the single Precision 106mm turbocharged, small-block powerhouse under the hood. New to the Boninfante Racing NA 10.5 ranks this year is the 1984 G.T. 350 Mustang of Terry Strange. Terry and his son, T.J., built the 399ci engine and the chassis as well, which used to compete in Fun Ford Street Outlaw competition with a nitrous small-block combination. Initial hits in the NA setup support quarter-mile times in the 8-teens, and the duo has more power to put to the track for this weekend. As the testing has been completed for the day, racers and fans are enjoying the free beer, pizza, and wings courtesy of Race Parts Solutions.
