Posted By: Event Coverage Team
Anticipation is building as we begin the final day of the NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl of Street-Legal Drag Racing presented by HPJ Performance at World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, Illinois. Racers will have razor-sharp focus as they give it everything they have to get through the rounds, to the winner's circle and to the famous NMRA/NMCA runoff portion of this annual event. In keeping with time-honored tradition, runoff winners will receive cleverly-crafted Nitto Tire Diamond Tree Rings.

With a chance of rain later this afternoon, we'll be focused on running at a prompt pace through the runoff portion of the event. Racers in NMCA TorqStorm Superchargers True Street and NMRA QA1 True Street wrapped up their combined street/strip stomping yesterday, and Greg Edwards grabbed the overall win with an 8.14 average, while Tony Karamitsos took the runner-up finish with an 8.25 average. Also successful were Rick Baum, 9-second winner, Keith Seymore, 10-second winner, Ernie Keppler, 11-second winner, Del Holbrook, 12-second winner, Rodney Ward, 13-second winnerr, Amanda Jordan, 14-second winner and Chris Graff, 15-second winner. The ever-expanding Dodge // Mopar HEMI Shootout saw Tony Demaio take the win with a 9.55 average and Jonathan Borntrager take the runner-up finish with a 10.15 average. Other accolades go to Richard Stimson, 10-second winner, Harold Benne, 11-second winner, Robert Skalecki, 12-second winner, Ken Mason, 13-second winner, Joe Giordano, 14-second winner and Brett Foutz, 15-second winner. Chip King is currently holding down the first spot in VP Racing Lubricants Xtreme Pro Mod points in his Bickel-built Mustang-bodied car packing a Joe Hornick Enterprises Hemi, Chuck Ford supercharger and an M&M Transmission Turbo 400, and he's focused on staying there. But, his car has been going into wheelies at the hit lately, including at the NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl of Street-Legal Drag Racing presented by HPJ Performance this weekend at World Wide Technology Raceway, and he and his team are making adjustments to the chassis and tune-up to get that under control. I guess we're just never satisfied, so we're always in test-mode to improve, said King, who has a bye-run into the final round of eliminations this afternoon.
