NMCA ARP Nitrous Pro Street Newcomer Jordan Ensslin Earned 2018 Championship

Posted By: Mike Galimi
Despite being new to NMCA ARP Nitrous Pro Street this year, Jordan Ensslin has put his name on the map. In a 2002 Trans Am belonging to Matt and Tom Edmunds and powered by a big-block Chevy and nitrous, he pushed to a 4.46 against Mark Hoadland to take a trip to the Aerospace Components Winner's Circle at the first event of the year, the 16th Annual NMCA Muscle Car Mayhem in March at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida. He missed the events in Georgia in April and Kentucky in May, but he made up for it by blasting to a 4.37 to lead qualifying at the 13th Annual Nitto NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl of Street Legal Drag Racing in July at Route 66 Raceway in Illinois, followed by a 4.45 to qualify in the second spot and an off-the-throttle pass to win over Jennifer Brooke Rice, who had trouble and couldn't complete the pass, at the 17th Annual Honeywell Garrett NMCA All-American Nationals in August at Summit Motorsports Park in Ohio. He had his work cut out for him going into the final event of the year, the NMCA World Street Finals in September at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indiana, as there was a tight battle for points with Rice in the lead, but he remained focused and pushed to a 4.32 to lead qualifying in his hard-leaving car, won with a 4.31 against Tony Gillig and his throwback Cutlass and captured the 2018 ARP Nitrous Pro Street championship. I had so much fun meeting new people and racing against new people, and so many of them made me feel like I was part of their family, said Ensslin. I have so many people I want to thank, including my dad, Jeff Ensslin, who races in Nitrous Pro Street with me, my grandpa and crew chief, Larry Ensslin, my grandma, Jean Ensslin, my stepmother, Michelle Ensslin, my girlfriend, Jacie Hollingsworth, my uncle, Brian Ensslin, Kevin Jones, Dwaine Kessler, Bill Neri, who helped with suspension adjustments, the Quartuccio family, Rich Beaumont and Company, Ed McLemore and car owners, Matt and Tom Edmunds. Toward the end, I was crunching numbers and I told my dad we had a fighting chance, and I sure am glad it worked out the way it did. Ensslin and his accomplishments will be celebrated at the NMCA Muscle Car Nationals presented by E3 Spark Plugs Awards Ceremony presented by Aerospace Components, Dec. 7 at the Indiana Convention Center.
