With the NMCA's move to Memphis International Raceway for its third stop of the 2019 NMCA Drag Racing Series presented by E3 Spark Plugs, the staff has been looking for ways to mix things up. At this event, the NMCA's championship classes will be joined by the Chevrolet Performance LSX Shootout the second stop of the Chevrolet Performance Challenge Series as well as the Factory Appearing Stock Tire Racers, and now we're pleased to announce that this event will host the first-ever ATI Performance Products Memphis Muscle Car Madness presented by Deuce Machining, which will pit the Detroit Truetrac Nostalgia Muscle Car, Quick Fuel Technology Nostalgia Super Stock, and Coan Engineering Stock/Super Stock Combo classes against each other in a crazy, 32-car shootout! At various races throughout the year, the NMRA and NMCA combine classes to make things more interesting for the racers, and while the Nostalgia Muscle Car and Super Stock classes have squared off in the past, this will be the first time that the NMCA's Stock/Super Stock Combo class will be added to the mix. Gene Bergstrom and I started talking about what we could do to add to the Memphis event and it was pretty clear that we would do something with the index racers, explained ProMedia General Manager, Rollie Miller. From there, Doug Duell and Andy Warren took off with it. The eliminator will be comprised of the top ten qualifiers from each class plus two wild cards, and the 32-car shootout will run shortly after qualifying has concluded. The NSS and NMC classes will run their index that they qualified on, and the Stock/Super Stock racers will have to pick one and use that for the entirety of the shootout. Over $2,600 in purse money will be awaiting the finalists in the Aerospace Components Winner's Circle!
