Litz Ready to Lay it Down in Wiseco Street Outlaw

Posted By: Mike Galimi
After nearly two years of reworking and rebuilding his '98 Camaro after a wreck in the fall of 2014, Ray Litz is ready to debut it in Wiseco Street Outlaw. Midwest Chassis in Illinois upgraded the 25.5 cage to a 25.3 cage, added bars to stiffen the car from one end to the other and fabricated a custom rear-end housing, all new custom rear suspension components, a removable front-end and an aluminum wing for the Ohio-based driver who had been bringing the heat in the Chevrolet Performance Challenge Series' Real Street and in X275. The car then'spent time at Carlyle Racing in Ohio, where the placement for a turbo and both hot- and cold-side piping was decided upon, and Shearer Fabrication supplied the intercooler to go along with the new water and ice tank Litz fabricated. RayLitz2Being the handy man he is, Litz rewired the car using a Race Wire Solutions switch panel and main relay panel, and then laid his eye-catching custom paint, which he describes as "a mix of red pearl and ghosting violet pearl." Now back under the hood of his car is his recently-freshened ERL-built 400 cubic-inch LS engine topped with All Pro 12-4 heads, and while a 98mm Garrett turbo is currently in place, the always-prepared driver has at the ready an 88mm Garrett turbo. An RPM Transmissions-built Turbo 400, bolt-together PTC converter and Driveshaft Shop carbon fiber driveshaft tackle the transferring of power to the ground, and the car sports a new set of Billet Specialties wheels wrapped with Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial Pro tires. Litz, who uses Big Stuff 3 to tune, recently shookdown his well thought-out piece at an X275 race at Ohio Valley Dragway in Kentucky, where he achieved a personal best 1.12 60-foot and then laid down a 4.70 at 154 mph, with the 88mm Garrett turbo aboard. Now, he's ready to roll into the 15th Annual NMCA All-American Nationals, June 23-26, 2016 at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, and aim for 4.50s and eventually 4.40s in Wiseco Street Outlaw. imagejpeg_0 copy 2
