However, these mega-powered modern engines are increasingly not limited factory machines. These days the company offers a wide variety of crate engines designed to power your project. The latest is plucked right from under the hood of the legendary Dodge Demon. The new 807-horsepower Hellcrate Redeye crate engine gives any pre-1976 vehicle owner another opportunity to become a member of the Dodge Brotherhood of Muscle by tapping into the Dodge // SRT power that wasn't available then, but is now. This engine is chock full of the latest Mopar hardware to ensure a long life of high output. Filling up its modern 6.2-liter block is a forged-steel crank with a 90.9mm stroke that swings powder-forged connecting rods with improved fasteners and shanks. Pinned to those rods are forged pistons feature 30-micron piston-to-bore clearance and benefit from a 100 percent increase in piston-cooling jet flow. The rugged crank rides on induction-hardened bearing surfaces with individually optimized journals. Atop this stout short-block is a 2.7-liter supercharger pumping out 14.5 pounds of boost. Letting that in the combustion chamber is a 5150-alloy, gun-drilled camshaft engineered for reduced weight and rpm as high a 6,500 revs. It works with valve springs built to improve rocker-tip and valve spring lubrication and cooling by 33 percent. Feeding that oil is an oil pan built to support acceleration as aggressive as 1.8g. Now Mopar offers everything from a 5.7-liter crate engine to the monster that is the Hellephant.
