If you want power but don’t want to sacrifice reliability or consistency, there is a good chance that a Vortech Supercharger is right up your alley.
Vortech Engineering, Inc., was founded in1990 by Jim Middlebrook, and the ever-expanding company continues to engineer efficient, high-technology air management solutions for automotive, marine, industrial, aeronautical, and other motorsports applications.  Since the company’s inception, Vortech has been on the cutting edge of centrifugal compressor design technology, owning several patents, and winning numerous design awards, SEMA “Best New Product” awards, and countless racing championships in sanctioning bodies all over the world including the Red Line Oil NMCA Series and the Holley NMRA Drag Racing Series.
Middlebrook previously worked as an engineer for Paxton Superchargers, designed a revolutionary new internally gear-driven compressor, and went off on his own to start Vortech Engineering.  Focusing on the popular Ford engines of the day, Vortech quickly made a name for itself with turn-key supercharging systems for both the Ford 5.0L, 5.8L and 7.5L engines, fast becoming the go-to modification for all serious performance enthusiasts. Vortech eventually expanded into other car and truck applications, as well as creating additional arms of the company such as Vortech Marine and Vortron Industrial to meet the growing needs of centrifugal compressor technology in those fields.
Given the company’s history, it’s not surprising that Vortech Superchargers are favored by many successful racers in the Red Line Oil NMCA Series and the Holley NMRA Series including the Lujan Performance team. Team owner Willie Lujan and his family run a fleet of high-powered street cars out of their Miami, Fla. shop and they rely heavily on Vortech products.
Lujan’s daughter, Gabriela has become a rising star in the NMRA series with multiple wins in both Circle D Specialties True Street and the Suncoast Performance 8.60 class.
Last year at the NMRA World Finals in Bowling Green, Gaby Lujan doubled up with a win in the Suncoast Performance 8.60 class, a day after she was the overall champion in the Tremec All Female True Street class with an impressive 8.88-second average.
Lujan also competes in popular drag and drive events such as Sick Week, where five days of competition combined with hundreds of highway miles will test the mettle of any high-performance component.
As for Middlebrook, 10 years after Vortech was founded, he purchased Paxton Superchargers, further expanding the product line and reach of Vortech Engineering to the masses. Both Paxton and Vortech kits are available for a wide range of modern and classic muscle cars, including Ford, GM, Dodge and many more. And these kits can be used as a simple bolt-on to add 150-plus horsepower to full race applications making well over 3,500 horsepower. Vortech also offers a complete line of accessories and add-ons like fuel pumps, pulleys, regulators, charge coolers, water tanks and more.
Today, Vortech remains at the forefront of centrifugal compressor design and automotive accessory technology, with wide range of supercharging systems for all cars and trucks, as well as fuel system components, air bypass components, and a popular line of charge cooler upgrades for the Ford EcoBoost line of cars and trucks.
