David Fallon Jr. felt at home the very first time he competed in ARP Nitrous Pro Street four years ago.
He liked the competition and the camaraderie, and he was certain that he wanted to hang his hat in the category for a while. So he started taking part in more races, and in 2022, he committed to all six races on the series’ annual tour in his Camaro powered by a 632 cubic-inch engine built by Pat Musi Racing Engines, a SpeedTech nitrous system and a Turbo 400 by M&M Transmission, and rolling on Hoosier tires.
Confident that his car was up to the task, Fallon Jr. made the trip from Michigan to the NMCA Muscle Car Mayhem presented by Holbrook Racing Engines in March at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida. He qualified in the second spot with a 4.33, won the first and second rounds of eliminations when his opponents had trouble at the hit, and he had a solo pass in the semifinal round of eliminations. That sent him to the final round of eliminations, where he secured the win with a 4.37 against the always-competitive Nicole Liberty-Cach.
Fallon Jr. then set the pace in qualifying with a 4.31 at the Scoggin Dickey Parts Center NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals presented by MAHLE Motorsport in April at Rockingham Dragway in North Carolina. He won the first round of eliminations with a 4.62 and wheeled to a 4.32 on a solo pass in the second round of eliminations. With that, he faced Nicole Liberty-Cach in the final round of eliminations again, and won with another 4.32.

While Fallon Jr. led qualifying with a 4.28 at the NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl of Street Legal Drag Racing presented by Fuelab in May at World Wide Technology Raceway in Illinois, he exited in the first round of eliminations when he had to settle his high-horsepower car.
Rounding the corner on the race season, he pulled into the Arrington Performance NMRA/NMCA Power Festival presented by TorqStorm Superchargers in July at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Michigan, led qualifying with a 4.30 and won the first round of eliminations with a 4.29. When rain came, the race was completed at the NMCA All-American Nationals presented by Sick the Magazine in August at Summit Motorsports Park in Ohio, and Fallon Jr. exited the make-up race early. For the actual Ohio race, however, he led qualifying with a 4.29, won the first and second rounds of eliminations with a 4.30 and 4.35, before running to a 4.33 on a solo pass in the semifinal round of eliminations and another 4.33 to claim the victory over Vince Khoury in the final round of eliminations.
Focused on a fantastic finale, Fallon Jr. led qualifying with a 4.26 at the NMCA World Street Finals presented by Chevrolet Performance in September at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park in Indiana. He ripped off a 4.28 on a solo pass in the first round of eliminations, picked up to a 4.26 to win the second round of eliminations and then put down a 4.28 to win the third round of eliminations. He had some trouble in the final round of eliminations that prevented him from having a clean pass against Derik Timmer, and he finished as the runner-up.
“While testing in Indy, we ran a 4.23, which was faster than anyone had run in Nitrous Pro Street all year, and then the weather changed going into the weekend and we got more aggressive with the tune-up and added more jet and timing,” said Fallon Jr., “I was able to beat Billy Glidden in the semifinal, which was a highlight because he was always one of my favorite racers, and he is very tough. But we nipped a couple plugs and couldn’t run a clean pass in the final round of eliminations.”
With the runner-up finish, however, Fallon Jr. locked up the 2022 ARP Nitrous Pro Street championship. He also earned the 2022 Outlaw 632 championship at Milan Dragway in Michigan.
“We set some goals at the beginning of the season that we really wanted to reach, and the championship was one of them, but the fact that we earned the championship didn’t really start to sink in until we were driving home from the race in Indiana,” said Fallon Jr. “That’s when we were able to breathe and say ‘We did it.’ I definitely had more pep in my step the next day, and to have people congratulating us has been awesome. It means a lot, and it would not have been possible without my team and family, including my dad, David Fallon Sr., my wife, Maggie Fallon, my daughter, Ryleigh Fallon, Jackie Slone, who I co-own Pro Hose Connections with, Pat Musi, Mark Micke, Justin Carey and Keith Scharp. That is an amazing crew. I would also like to acknowledge SpeedTech and Hoosier Tires, among others.”
The NMCA will celebrate Fallon Jr. and his fellow champions at the Red Line Oil NMCA Muscle Car Nationals Awards Ceremony, held during the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show, Dec. 9, 2022, at the Indiana Convention Center, and in the upcoming Champions Issue of Fastest Street Car.
