Amy Faulk is an experienced and exceptional racer.
She has accomplished a lot in her decades of racing, including an NHRA Super Stock championship in 1979 and an NHRA Division 2 Hall of Fame entry. She also served on the SEMA Board of Directors.
For the past several years, the Tennessean has been racing in NMCA Micro Strategies Super Stock, and she has shown her skills every step of the way, including with a second-place finish in points in 2023.
With her sights set on a stepping up to a championship in 2024, she and her husband and crew chief, Kenny Faulk, prepared her Firebird with a new LS engine by Jeff Taylor Performance and a converter by Coan.
Concentrating on tuning the new engine along with the suspension, Faulk headed to the first race on the 2024 Red Line Oil NMCA Muscle Car Nationals tour, the NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals & Top of the Rock Thrill Festival presented by Sipple’s Speed and Performance in April at Rockingham Dragway in North Carolina. She qualified in the fourth spot with a 9.52 on a 10.45 and exited eliminations in the first round.
She then qualified in the sixth spot with a 9.51 on a 10.45 and exited eliminations in the second round at the Holley NMRA/Red Line Oil NMCA Race for the Rings & Saturday Thrill Festival in May at World Wide Technology Raceway in Illinois, and qualified in the fifth spot with a 9.57 on a 10.45 and exited eliminations in the second round at the Scoggin Dickey Parts Center NMCA Muscle Car Mayhem presented by Scott’s Trailer Sales & Saturday Thrill Festival in late May, early June at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Kentucky.
Positioned toward the top in points, Faulk qualified in the third spot 9.55 on a 10.45 and exited eliminations in the second round at the TorqStorm Superchargers NMRA/NMCA Power Festival presented by Nitto Tire & Saturday Thrill Festival in July at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Michigan.
While missing the Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels NMCA All-American Nationals & Xtreme Sports Festival in August at Summit Motorsports Park in Ohio moved her from second-place to fifth-place in points, she is motivated to make up ground at the last event on this year’s Red Line Oil NMCA Muscle Car Nationals tour, the 23rd Annual NMCA World Street Finals presented by Chevrolet Performance, Sept. 19-22, at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park in Indiana.
“I certainly want to finish well, and with each round, it is important to do my best off the starting line and at the finish line,” said Faulk. “Mark Nowicki has had a very impressive year again. He gets better with age, and I have to find out his secret. I want to thank my husband of 53 years and crew chief, Kenny, who always has the car tuned to be competitive each round, as well as Jeff Taylor, Jason Coan, Joe Pando, Robin Lawrence and everyone at NMCA. I just want to make sure that everyone with the association understands how much their professionalism, patience and genuine concern for racers is truly appreciated. The Weldon Pump Racer Appreciation Party is something that few events have for racers. The NMCA crew members are outstanding, from staging, tech and scales. You know they are happy you are racing with them.”
As always, Faulk will be ready to suit up and secure wins when the new racing season arrives.
“We are working on some new things for the 2025 season,” said Faulk.
