In addition to the endless rows of amazing aftermarket components at the Performance Racing industry Show are dozens of high-performance vehicles of all shapes and sizes. As the premier motorsports show in the USA, you’ll find everything ranging from full-on race go karts to Formula-style race cars, drag cars, circle track racers of all types, plus drift, land-speed and off-road race machines. There’s also abundance of custom street-legal hot rods, like this awesome 1970 Camaro that we found in the Chevrolet Performance booth.

The team at Chevrolet Performance is no stranger to project cars and race cars, too. Its COPO Camaro captured the 2022 Constant Aviation Factory Stock Showdown title and there’s news of a new one coming next year.

Of particular interest to our staff was this beautiful ’70 Camaro that was fashioned in Hyper Blue Metallic with Summit white stripes. Powering the Chevrolet was GM’s GenV LT4 6.2L (376 cubic inch) 650 hp Wet-Sump Crate engine that also produces 650 ft-lbs of torque. The LT4 is backed by a TREMEC 6-speed Magnum transmission and is a great option for a variety of vehicles. Other features included a Coil-over suspension sourced from a Corvette, Chevrolet Performance brake upgrade kit, 19-inch wheels and a custom 3-inch exhaust.

Like most Camaros, Second-Gen models are great for drag or road racing, or as a street cruiser, and this one was prepared to show off the LT4 and how well it fits. Of course, Chevrolet Performance offers a complete line of small-block, big-block, LS and LT engines so you can pick the power you desire.

The Camaro sat low with a ready-to-rock stance and there were subtle touches like the custom grille that, according to Chevy, paid homage to the sixth-gen Camaro. We also liked the stock-ish interior, which kept the factory look, but had a 6-point roll bar and upgraded seats. This is definitely a Camaro we’d love to have for cruising as well as a night at the drag strip or local road course.
