As a feature of NMCA Muscle Car Nationals presented by E3 Spark Plugs events, Chevrolet Performance Challenge Series and its drivers continuously captivate with remarkable and record-setting racing.
The action was amplified at the 16th Annual SDPC Raceshop NMCA World Street Finals at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indiana in September, where champions were ceremoniously crowned across the categories.
Among them was Wiseco BoostLine Connecting Rods Drag Radial driver Anthony Manna, who was swapping fuel pumps early in the weekend but buttoned everything up in time to set the pace in qualifying with a 4.47 in his Camaro, and even though he lost in the semifinal, he secured the championship with just 110 points more than Andy Essary. The Illinois-based driver who backed up his 2016 championship also won at the Holley LS Fest in Kentucky and holds the current Wiseco BoostLine Connecting Rods Drag Radial elapsed time and top speed records with a 4.455 and 180.74 mph.
In Holley EFI Real Street, Jessie Coulter pushed his Camaro to a 4.75 to lead qualifying, and went on to win with a 4.72 and lock up the class championship. The Kentucky-based driver also won at the NMCA event in Ohio and the Holley LS Fest in Kentucky, and was runner-up at the NMCA event in Kentucky. Adding to his star-status is the fact that he also earned this year's NMCA Edelbrock Xtreme Street championship.
We've been so close to the Real Street championship for two years in a row, so to clinch two championships is still almost unbelievable, said Coulter. It was a lot of work, but the reward makes it all worthwhile.
Jesse Wilson piloted Kelly Pierce's Camaro to a 10.25 to lead Chevrolet Performance Stock presented by Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center, and he made it to the final round where he was runner-up and declared the class champion. The Indiana-based driver, who won at the events in Kentucky, Illinois and Ohio, also earned the NMCA Chevrolet Performance Stock championship, and holds elapsed time and top speed records in the class with a 10.098 and 131.88 mph.

I'll never forget how proud I felt when Jenna won her NMCA Open Comp championship in 2015. I have a very similar feeling this time around. It's very gratifying to now have two championship cars that we have literally built from the ground up with the help of many friends. Everyone involved is happy beyond words of how this season played out. It's just a wonderful feeling and accomplishment."
LME Street King saw Kurt Anderson steer his wheelstanding Camaro to a 10.00 on his 10.00 dial to win as well as to wrap up the class championship with just 305 points more than Taylor Lumsden. The Wisconsin-based driver also wheeled to a win at the event in Kentucky.
