Benjamin Board to Return to Xtreme Pro Mod at NMCA Season-Opener

Posted By: Mike Galimi
While competing in NMCA VP Racing Fuels Xtreme Pro Mod for the first time last April at Atlanta Dragway, Benjamin Board blasted to a 3.94 in his Jerry Bickel Race Cars-built 2012 Camaro-bodied car. Then, while competing in the Mid-West Pro Mod Racing Series for the first time last May at Throwdown in T-Town at Tulsa Raceway Park, he wheeled to a 3.96, but later that weekend, his car impacted the wall with such force that he was left with whiplash. As soon as he could, however, he delivered his chassis which was not compromised in the wreck to Jerry Bickel Race Cars to have fabricated for it a new set of zoomie headers to replace the headers that were smashed, and to have placed on it a new carbon fiber body by Kirkman Composites. Board hired Southwest Graphics & Wraps to use wrap by 5 Star Designs & Graphics to cover the car in colors that'resembled his pre-wreck black, red and white paint scheme, and he installed into it the combination he had been running, including a Starting Line Motorsports-built Brad Anderson Hemi topped with a Hogan's intake and fronted by a ProCharger F-3R-136. He paired the powerplant with a Lenco transmission, Bruno converter drive and a Blue Bayou Motorsports converter. Because it was fall by the time we were back to running, we didn't get to run any more NMCA Xtreme Pro Mod races, but we hope to make up for that this year, said Board. With a recently freshened engine and a new paint job on the car by Carl Root, the Illinois-based driver is preparing to pound pavement at the 16th Annual NMCA Muscle Car Mayhem, March 8-11 at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida. I'm really looking forward to this race, and to running all of the NMCA races this year, said Board, whose crew includes his dad, Ben Board, Jeff Beckman and Don Fisher, and whose sponsors include High Performance Lubricants, 101 Transport, Inc., GMH Metal Fabrication, Multi-Fire Wire, Simpson, Starting Line Motorsports and TPRaceShop at Tucson Raceway. I love the NMCA Xtreme Pro Mod class and all of the cars that are in it. (Photos by NMCA and courtesy of Benjamin Board)
