Australian Pro Stock Champ Nino Cavallo to Contest NMCA's Dart Pro Stock

Posted By: nmrasalesdept
The NMCA's new Dart Pro Stock class has been creating quite the buzz and drawing interest from all over, including in Australia where the Australian National Drag Racing Association (ANDRA) has a Pro Stock class with near the same rules as the NMCA's new Dart Pro Stock. The ANDRA's 2016 Pro Stock champion, Nino Cavallo, is coming to America to mix it up with racers in Dart Pro Stock. "We are going to run the Joliet race meeting in July in the new Pro Stock in NMCA," said Cavallo. "We are very excited to come and do this; we have a new car waiting for us over there which we haven't even seen yet except for photos." Cavallo, a 20-year racing veteran, has three Super Stock championships to his credit and picked up his first Pro Stock championship in 2016. "I moved up to Pro Stock three years ago in my Jerry Haas Dodge stratus powered by a BRE Hemi small-block engine and a five-speed Liberty. The new car is also built by Jerry Haas, a 2012 Dodge Avenger, and it was original built for V. Gaines. Since we've been in Pro Stock, we have gone 6.93 at 197.77 mph," Cavallo told us. "We won the 2015 Winter Nationals the biggest drag racing event outside of America and the Australian Nationals 2016 at our home track in Melbourne." For Cavallo, racing is a family affair with his wife Amanda, daughter Laura, and son Dion all involved. "They cannot wait to come to the USA and race," Cavallo said, "This is a dream come true for all of us. My running gear was sent over weeks ago and a very good friend of ours and our crew chief, Adam Drzayich, is installing it in to the car." Cavallo hopes to get in some test runs on the new machine prior to the NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl of Street Legal Drag Racing in Joliet, Illinois. "I am very excited about this new class even though we have been running the same format over here. I don't think there is anything better than a small-block screaming over 10,000 rpm with a five-speed clutch transmission. I have always raced Mopar cars, so all you Mopar fans make sure you come to Joliet to see the Mopar from down under take on the rest, and come past the pits and say, 'how you going Mate.'" IMG_0788
