Leonard Long is trying out a new Holley Dominator EFI System on his Mustang this weekend at the 12th Annual Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center All-Star Nationals. The Dart NA 10.5 presented by Diamond Pistons racer is also running a fresh motor but only feeding it with eight injectors rather than the 16 it ran formerly.
Dom DiDonato rolls into the the 12th Annual Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center All-Star Nationals fresh off strong runs at Woostock. His turbocharged, modular-powered Shelby GT500 is running the same combo his team honed for the past several years. They strapped new tires on the C&D Auto Tech-backed machine in anticipation of making hits tomorrow in VP Racing Madditives Street Outlaw.
Sporting a new engine combo, Joe Clemente's Dart NA 10.5 presented by Diamond Pistons Mustang has the same displacement, but new internals. Topped by CFE heads and two billet carbs, his engine is backed by an ATF transmission. This weekend's 12th Annual Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center All-Star Nationals marks the maiden voyage for the new setup in competition.
Proform Parts Rumble competitor Cody Poston borrowed a Corvette for the first round of the Chevrolet Performance Challenge Series in Bradenton earlier this year, but he has his 5th-Gen Camaro back finally for this race in Commerce, Georgia. After breaking another half-shaft at the Joliet race last year, Poston had Jessie's Garage build a new solid rear axle for the car and also dropped in a new Turbo 400 transmission. The Whipple Superchargers-powered machine clicked off a 10.60 in testing.
After his yellow machine took flight last year, Robert Abbott decided it was time for a fresh chassis. With a blown Hemi under hood, this machine has run as quick as 3.79 at 202. However, his team, led by car chief Scott Halstead and tuner Guy Carlton, hope to run quicker in VP Racing Lubricants Pro Mod this weekend at Atlanta Dragway.
Chris Holbrook didn't have a lot to improve upon after at stellar Holley EFI Factory Super Cars showing in Bradenton. That said, with a little extra down time, he was able to apply some engine techniques tested on customer engines. Combined with new gear ratios, the tweaked combo has a few test hits, but it will be interesting to see how well it runs this weekend at the 12th Annual Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center All-Star Nationals.
With his Corvette down for the count at the season opener in Bradenton, Thomas Dabbs jumped into his son Brandon's Camaro and drove his way to the Aerospace Components Inc. Winner's Circle for the Proform Parts Rumble win. The Chevrolet Performance Challenge Series competitor has his C5 Corvette back in action this weekend at Atlanta Dragway and his son Brandon will be wheeling the Camaro.
The Bahrain 1 Racing-backed, NHRA-legal machine driven by Jeffery Barker rolled into Atlanta Dragway to make some hits. Getting the Musi-powered, Switzer-nitrous'd machine dialed in for its next outing in Indy.
Frustrated by a nagging issue that caused his Coast Packing-backed VP Racing Lubricants Xtreme Pro Mod to shut off, Eric Gustafson and his team rewired the entire car and went through all the mechanicals. Even with experienced people chasing the issue, he described it as a head-scratcher. He says the car is competitive and capable of winning at any race it gets down the track without issue.
Matt Salminen made the driver change official for 2020 by putting his son Kyle's name on the door of his 1969 ARP Nitrous Pro Street Camaro. The father/son team went a couple of rounds at the season opener in Bradenton with Kyle wheeling the Nelson Competition Inc 632ci big-block-powered F-body into the 4.40s.
For the 2020 season, Adam Flamholc and Hank Stubbs have teamed up with Stubbs driving the Flamholc/MMR Racing supercharged Corvette at numerous events. The team put up a squirrelly 3.77 run today in testing.
Jackie Slone used the time away from racing to add another nitrous system to his VP Racing Fuels Lubricants Xtreme Pro Mod Camaro for a total of six. He hopes that and a motor refresh keeps him at the front of the field.
