NMCA Honors “Sponge Bob” Curran and Renames Sportsman of the Year Award

This past summer we lost a champion and friend when “Sponge Bob” Curran passed away suddenly at just 53 years old. As an Xtreme Street racer who has won a few championships, Sportsman of the Year, and Ambassador of the Year awards, he was a major part of NMCA and the community honored him during the annual NMCA Awards Ceremony, presented by Aerospace Components.

Sue, Jeremy, and Taylor Curran were presented a special award as we remembered our friend. NMCA officials also renamed one of its most prestigious awards in his name—the Bob Curran Sportsman of the Year award will immortalize his friendly demeanor and wonderful personality.

This 2018 winner of the Bob Curran Sportsman of the Year winner is MagnaFuel Open Comp racer Bruce Boyle.
