The NMCA kicked off its 20th season with one of the most exciting events in recent memory as the Edelbrock Drag Racing Series hosted the 6th Annual Ross Pistons Muscle Car Nationals at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida.
Highlighting the event was the quickest Pro Street field in the history of the organization as 20-cars were entered in the Scorpion Performance-sponsored class. Kenny Voss’ 6.79 anchored the field which was led by Tony Bischoff’s 6.39 at 219 mph run. The race was won by NMCA newcomer Mark Micke and his Jefferson, Missouri-based ’67 Camaro, which beat Steve King’s ’68 Camaro, which lost traction in the final, giving the win to Micke.

Comp Cam Pro Stock featured exciting side-by-side racing all day, ending with Mike DeMayo defeating 2007 champ Bruce Maichle who redlit. Despite the foul, the two raced until the finish with DeMayo clicking off an 8.656 to Maichle’s 8.657.
John Macaluso equaled his 2007 performance in Florida when he won his second event here in as many years as he defeated Brian Kenward in the final. Macaluso and his Mustang ran a 9.08 to Kenward’s 9.33 in his Camaro. Macaluso also posted a sub 8- in the second round when he ran an 8.983.
