Hello all.

I am looking forward to running my first NMCA event in Bradenton. I have a 65 Nova that runs mid-11s that I hope to run in NMC/C. Hoping someone might be able to answer a few questions for me.

Does this class run during the "heads up" sessions of the schedule?

Will I need to be sure my belts are less than 2 years old?

Will I need an engine diaper?

Thanks. Looking forward to running with everyone!

Greg,

The class does run with the heads up schedule. They usually run the qualifying in this order:
EFI, Open Comp, NMC, NSS, Mean Street, Street Race, Pro Stock, Extreme Street, Nostalgia Pro Street, Super Street, Pro Street

Depending on car count they run eliminations on Sunday in different orders. NMC has averaged from 15-30 cars each race, so we're normally the 2nd or 3rd class to do eliminations on Sunday.

Every NMCA class is regulated by general NHRA saftey rules. If your belts are out of date, you need to replace them. Also make sure your helmet is up to date as well.

If you're just running 11.50s, you don't need a diaper.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

See you in Bradenton.

Andy

I appreciate the info. Looking forward to a great time.

What helmet certification are they looking for? Snell M2000 OK?

I am planning to come over Friday morning for registration, tech, and maybe a test pass or two. Anything with tech or registraion I should be particularly aware of? I know I need to get some decals made with class designation and number.

Thanks again.

Your M2000 helmet is fine if your belts are expired please replace them they need to be up to date. The power mall sells permanent numbers. Also you need to be a member of the NMCA if you are not you can join at the registration trailer or at the power mall. A word of advise before you go to the tech department please have your windshield banner, NMCA 2008 side decals and your permanent numbers already on the vehicle. This saves you and the tech department alot of time. The tech department will give you the class sponser decal since they will have those to issue. I hope this answers your questions.

Thanks. I will get the belts up to date.

Where do I find the Power Mall? Is it onsite at the event?

Greg,

Jeff is right. Best thing to do is to have the decals on the car and membership card in hand when you arrive. Also if you can, go through the contingency list posted in the Lounge section of the board. Find what parts you have that pay out for the class. Make a list, and maybe email or call the companies to get some contingency stickers. If some don't fall through they have toats of them at the registration trailer. Some times they run out. When you fill your paper work out at the track, make sure to double check your contingency sheet. Take a piece of paper and go along the lines. It's easy to mark the wrong part. I've done it before. :-P $150 mistake.

Another thing, when you fill out your tech/info card, up top it will say class. Who ever is in the registration trailer will automaticly mark NMC. Make sure you write your index designation on there as well in that section. C for 11.50 etc, if not they'll put you in the computer as a default 10.50 index. *made that mistake too* That'll ruin a qualifying pass.

Make sure you have your radio on when they call for qualifying and eliminations. They don't play around. :) They work pretty fast getting everyone out there.

Look forward to meeting you.

Thanks Andy for bringing that up. For everone else that reads this. The contingency form is really important, always make sure it is filled out correctly and you do infact are using the part that is being paid for and have the decal on the car. If you are lucky enough to make it to the final we do varify the part to the contingency claimed. Also make sure you have the contingency sheet filled out and the decal on the car before going to the tech department. The tech department does not keep contingency decals, all the decals will be at the registration trailer.

Thank you both for the info! This helps a great deal.

Already have some new belts on the way, and I will definitely plan to go over the contingency list and be ready with the decals.

Just to be clear, they will have the winshield and side decals necessary at registration?

I joined a few weeks ago, but when I talked to the girl to get my perm # she said that they are not sure that they will have membership cards out before the event. I will bring my confirmation email along and hope for the best if the card doesn't show.

Now if I can just get my engine back togther and tuned up :-) I hope it won't be a problem sicne we still have 6 weeks or so. File fitting rings this weekend so you can see I have some work ahead of me. What started as a simple cam swap turned into a full rebuild after I discovered that a ballooned converter ate my crank and thrust bearing. Bummer... but we can still make it. Just hope my ETs are still close to the 11.50 mark after the changes.

Thanks again. Looking forward to meeting everyone and a great weekend of racing.
