Tony,
You could spray it with ceramic coating to add to its resistance to fire. However, I would think that the bigger problem will be where to draw the line on the firewall to cut the tunnel for the transmission.
I was involved in the original development of the Clutch, Disc, and Flywheel package for the new C5 corvette back in 1996-1997, and the thing that amazed me the most was how small the area was formed where the firewall transitions to the transmission tunnel.
The C5 has the clutch, disc and flywheel in a small belhousing that is bolted to the back of the engine block and then a torque tube conects a long input shaft to the rear end of the car which contains the transmission.
I was told by the Corvette engineers that this design allows the weight distribution to better distribute the front to rear bias, but more importantly it makes a ton more leg room indide the car.
You could never fit a T-400 case in the correct location, without cutting out a lot of the original firewall. Unless the engine was moved foward which would really comprimises the chassis working correctly.
Good Luck with your new car Tony.
