View Full Version : *Windshield/Windows for Late Model EFI*

This is what the rule states:
7.9 WINDSHIELDS/WINDOWS
WINDSHIELD/WINDOWS: Must be OEM safety glass
But why can't we have lexan? There is no minimum weight required and it is not a heads up class. Can we get the rule revised or at least an explanation?

Matt,
Just my 2 cents, but the rules committee generally wants the cars running in NMCA classes to be viewed as "street cars." Lexan windows (and apparently, foward-facing hoodscoops) don't fit their criteria. If it was in the case of a late model pickup, where the rollbar must pass through the rear window to the bed of the truck, I can see where an exception would be made.

Ron is right - the EFI class was for Late Model street cars. I'm sure they want to keep it that way

I think that's silly considering you can have a F-2 Procharger with a fogger on top of that but I can't have plastic windows like the Percy's Speed Glass?

There is an alternative: Open Comp

No thanks. Not that big of a payout. I'll keep the stock glass in it for awhile.

Since you dont need a lexan any-windows to go the fastest index (9.50) I dont see the big deal. They do say in the rules that 'excessive' lightening is not allowed either.
But after watching a car go 100+mph on a pair of space saver spares in the front at the LSX shootout I'm not sure what 'excessive lightening' is exactly :)
I see they say no trans brakes in EFI now, not sure what brought that about..

Supposidly that was a rule last year too. But it wasn't in the rule book.

If its not in the rulebook how could it be a rule :)
No one said I couldnt use one last year and its was pretty obvious with me sitting on the starting line for 6 seconds on the brake/2step that I was using one I would say :)

I dunno, I didn't understand it either. I think I started hearing it as a rumor at the Columbus race.
Foot Brake works fine for me. :D

Foot brake works fine for me was well, harder for me to redlight...
Doest matter since its in the rulebook now though, even though the way its spelled it means you cant break your trans :)

LOL, so if I break my trans does that mean I can't race anymore ? :p

My car makes 340hp and will be going 10.90-11.0 at 2975 raceweight. I still have about 200lbs to take off the car and speed glass is one of my things that I will be doing, as well as a pin-on hatch. That is not excessive lightening to me. Cutting up the floor, firewall, and paneling in the interior is.
P.S. I leave off a 4000 rpm foot brake, so no need for a trans brake for me :D

I think members of the rules committee missed school the day they discussed homophones.
