View Full Version : EFI Suggestion?

Is there any chance of expanding the years allowed to run in EFI providing that they came with factory fuel injection? or what is the possibility of running a mod motor in an 86-95 mustang in EFI?

Personally I think they need to keep all fox bodies out of the class. 86 to 95 year cars aren't really "Late Model" anymore. I can see letting 94-95 Mustangs and 93-97 LT1 F-bodies in the class, but no Fox bodies.

I'm sure the NMRA has something that your car will fit in.

I agree, one of the reasons they came out with the EFI Class was to allow the newer cars a chance to race / compete without all the "OLDER" mustangs. NMRA is a perfect home for those. Crawlin you are correct by saying the 94 - Up Stangs in along with the LT's based cars

I agree with Clif. I am all for fox body mustangs either running an aftermarket mod motor or allowing fox bodies with factory fuel injection to run in EFI. Why not make the car count higher and allow all factory fuel injected cars to participate, regardless of the year?

Thanks for agreeing! Why do you think it's okay for the 94-95 5.0 mustangs to run but keep the 86-93's out that have the 5.0? Don't get me wrong we can run in Open Comp with NMCA but i'm seeing the car count is down in EFI so why not spread the years? plus the index racing seems more interesting.

Beacause its "Late Model" EFI. How can you consider a 21 year old 1986 Mustang Late Model ?

As for the car count, I would love to see car counts higher. There are so many people out there with factory equipt Mod Motor and LSx cars. Give it time, they will come.

Fox body Mustangs are everywhere. We don't need to see them in the "Late Model" EFI class.

There is a whole series for you Mustang guys. Isn't there a class over there that you will fit in ?

Just making a suggestion and think it'd make things more interesting- yeah i'm sure there's a class in NMRA but i'm gonna be in NMCA and a few people and I have some ideas and thought we'd share.

Well good luck. You may still have some time to email the NMCA. I tried getting the LT1 cars in along with the 94-95 Mustangs (to make it fair for the Ford guys) and that looks like it got shot down.

The email address is tech@fasteststreetcar.com

I'm not surprised you didn't get a response. About a month ago or so I sent in my formal rules change suggestions via email to that address above and I got no response. Also I sent a follow up email and still got no response.

Not sure if that's the correct address to be using. You should be using the following:
nmcarules@promediapub.com or faxed to (714) 444-2509.

I don't make the rules, so don't get mad at me, BUT: 24 hours ago you posted that you would be playing in NMCA O/C and only a day later you're upset your car doesn't fit a different class? What prompted the change in attitude?

How is that "not right" ? Rules are rules.

You also can't run the class cause your car is a 1997.

Rules say:
ELIGIBLE YEAR MODELS AND BODY STYLES
The following is a list of cars/engines, which are allowed to compete in the Late Model EFI class:
Chevrolet Corvette, LS1, LS2, LS6, LS7, 1997-current
Chevrolet Camaro, LS1, 1998-currentChevrolet SSR, LS2, 2005-2006
Chevrolet Trail Blazer, LS2, 2006-current
Ford Mustang, 4.6L Modular equipped, 1996-current
Ford Shelby Mustang, 5.4, 2007-current
Ford Lighting, 5.4, 1999-2004
Ford Marauder, 4.6. 2003-2004
Chrysler 300, Hemi V8, 2005-current
Dodge Viper, V10, 1992-current
Dodge Challenger, Hemi V8, 2007-current
Dodge Magnum, Hemi V8, 2005-current
Dodge Charger, Hemi V8, 2006-current

I disagree, cause then you will get all the ricers and/or imports in there. And In my opinion that would ruin the class and the NMCA.

If you search this board a little bit there is a thread where some of the Fox body Ford guys were complaining they couldn't run in the class too. Pretty much the same opinion you have.

Sorry, you misunderstood me. I didn't mean you "had an attitude", what I said was that your attitude seemed to have changed. Hope you come out and have a great time.

no offense to anyone but if you let in those 94-95 mustangs and then you gotta let in lt 1 cars, where would it stop, this is a class that is growing and i think the car count will be fine, its only the 2nd year, i say its great as is
