Well with a whole season to build, change my mind and rebuild the new engine combo is finally finished. Its still a small 477 inch big block. The heads were redone with bigger springs, everything is thermal barrier coated, machined for the smith brothers tapered pushrods and I stuck with TD Shaft rockers but had to go offset. Its now also sporting a jesel belt drive and the MEAN GREEN 140 amp at IDLE alternator is in there to keep the electronics firing on cue. The crower engineer assured us the rods would handle everything the twin 88s could throw at them on PUMP GAS.. Some concerns had been made about all the power at 3700 lbs so I opted to finally lighten up the car with TRUE STREET LEGAL mods. The front is losing the original heavy front end parts and getting a couple hundred lbs reduction rack and pinion set up ( upon clarification that its legal from Scott and Mike) with tubular control arms. The inner fenders are history to make room for the turbos and plumbing. The late 1980s backhalf with HEAVY square tube frame connectors are out as well with a whole new light weight backhalf and 25:5 cert to include losing the old rear end housing and axles.Ive dropped the gear down to a 3.70 . Im hoping to get the car to scale down in the 3400 lbs range and the plan is for SPETTER to put a knock down PUMP GAS tune up on it for the drag radials and a go for broke C16 tune for the big tires..

I hope that you can remember how to drive the car since you had to sit the year out due to the mods. I also hope that the game of golf doesn't interfere with your racing next year ALSO! Good luck and call when you get a chance.

Damn Man, Getting a grip on a golf game is as hard as getting a procharger to keep belts on it when youre spinning it max..... So theres no worry about golf taking over the race time.

Paul HK,, That would totally SUCK , But Ive got plans to run some ORSCA street car stuff down south where I live also. Although my main target is the NMCA True Street Record, I built the new combo to compete in the PUMP GAS stuff as well. Ive set my sights high considering how fast these guys are running and have set the bar. But Id be lying if I didnt say I was spending the $$ to try to win.
George, I totally expect some big #s from Paul and Mark next year and Im sure we havnt seen the last of Powski and maybe a few other fast Michigan / Illinois area guys like Steve Morris. I hear that Nova from up that way is expecting alot faster ETs as well. Who knows, You might even decide to enter your car and bust down some 8s. Either way I have totally missed going to the NMCA races this year. I always have a good time the NMCA racers are second to NONE!!!!!!
