Rick, it varies from car to car. What kind of car are you interested in running? (GM Obviously)
CARBURETOR (NSS CLASSES): All entries in the eliminator must be carbureted as outlined below. Carburetors must be of type and design as originally produced for a specific vehicle. Positioning of carburetors from factory mounting not a tech item (carburetors may be positioned facing forwards, backwards, or side mounted). Choke horn, choke plate, choke shaft, choke linkage, and choke mechanism may be removed. The following carburetor combinations are allowed, regardless of year/make/model of entry:
•Buick 400-455; Single AFB or Q-Jet, inline 2x4 AFB.
•Chevy 327 (FX Only); Single 4bbl with Rochester, Carter, AFB, Edelbrock, or Holley
•Chevy 348-409; Inline 2x4, inline 3x2 with Rochester or single 4bbl with Carters, AFBs, Rochester, or Edelbrocks.
•Chevy 396-454; Single 4bbl with Rochester, Carter,AFB, Edelbrock, Holley, Inline 2x4 AFB or Holley, Inline 3x2 Holley.
•Chrysler Hemi; Inline 2x4 or single 4bbl intake with Carters, AFBs, Edelbrocks, Holleys; or cross-ram 2x4 intake with Holleys.
•Chrysler Wedge; Inline or cross-ram 2x4 or single 4bbl intake with
•Carters, AFBs, or Edelbrocks.
•Ford; Inline 2x4 intakes, inline 3x2, or single 4bbl with Holleys.
•Pontiac; Inline 2x4 intakes or single 4bbl with Carters, AFBs, or Edelbrocks; or inline 3x2 with Rochester.
•AMX 390—Cross ram 2x4 bbl intakes with Holleys.
•Olds 400-455; 1x4 Q-Jet, inline 3x2 Rochester.
CARBURETOR (FX CLASSES): Vehicles in this class permitted the use of carburetors listed for NSS, or Holley up to 850 cfm in size (no Dominators).

You know the way those rules read, it says nothing of a Q-Jet. I know people have run Q-Jets on Pontaics before. You can run a Holley if you can run 9.75 (FX) or faster. Holleys were never available on BOP cars except the Stage 2 Buick dealer package had a 850 Holley but they don't want to allow that.

Ha Ha. Your right Jim. Guess i wasn't paying attention. It doesn't say rochester or Q-jet. But that was the only carb offered on the gto's starting in 67. Rochester i mean. I've got an original 2bbl gto. Not fast though.

The Q-jet was offered in 1967 for the Pontiac's so it will be allowed and added to the list for 2008.

Rick I talked to Mike about this in Atlanta and in Memphis. The q-jet was not available in 66's but were for your 67 and there are a few that would like to see some rule changes for the BOP's. A holley was available on a Ram Air V so I am trying to see if we can get a 4150 style legal. Most Pontiac, Olds And Buick older style intakes don't work well and won't fit alot of aftermarket heads that are available.
