I just did some drive line changes on my car and it picked up big time. Almost more than two tenths. Before, it would take off with the driver side front tire about 6 inches in the air, and the passenger side lifted but not off the ground. After a gear and tire change, the driver's side is coming up about 2-3 feet and the passenger's side is coming up a few inches.
The rear end is level when it is taking off, seems the twisting is coming from the front of the car. Probably because the frame is 18ft long!! haha I'm affraid it's going to end up cracking the windshield or do some other body/drive line damage. An anti roll bar on the back is more to equalize the twisting in the rear right? Would making my roll cage from a 6 point to an 8 point help with the body twisting so bad in the front?
It puts on a good show, but it may end up being expensive.
Any suggestions?

either a sway bar, anti roll bar, or as a cheap fix, an air bag...
that'll help you out....

I have an airbag in place, but i have it deflated because I thought my QA1 adjustables would eliminate the use of that. They helped out a ton. I'll try a pass with the air bag up and see how it does.

That will help you a bunch...
My old Camino used to twist and shout, if I didn't have the airbag inflated.... In fact it left quite sideways.... Lemme guess yours want to put the right rear towards the wall (if in the right lane)... and if you have friends behind the car, you could wave out the drivers window to them....

if your talking about putting the halo and front posts onto your roll bar, that will stiffen the chassis a TON. Ask around at the burg about how my Malibu used to leave, I have tire marks on the inner rear fender that almost go up to the 1/4 window lol. Added an anti-roll and full cage and it killed my poor 355 so bad I had to loosen the converter 1k rpm, but it left flat front and back. Sounds like you found some good e/t, glad to hear the changes made that much difference. Are you gonna run the next OSCA race? Or will the new e/t's be too far off?

Too far off my man. I ran a 7.08/11.22 at Milan this weekend. I tried my air bag, it still twisted. I think it's mainly because of how long the frame is, there's 18 feet of it. You notice how pulling tractors/trucks stay planted in the back but the front end still twists because of the hellatious torque? I think that's what's going on with mine.
I'm still going to try to get a sway bar on there to help it out.

Hi Andy,
Andy, how long do you think my 72 Elcamino is?, my wheelbase is 116 just like a 72 Chevelle, and your Impala should have a few more inches in the front grill area, and say up to 1 foot in the trunk area, would you agree? In 2004, I had air bags in both sides, a stock 454, 13:1 comp. with my glide for a trans, stock gear ratio of 1:76, and a 5000 stall 9 in. convertor, 4:56 then a 4:88, 29" tall tire and I left around 3200-3600 rpms and lifted the left front about a foot every time, then, after seeing a picture of my elky at Martin, Mi., I needed more bars, so I went from a 10 point to a 12 (two bars going thru the firewall to the front frame) and then they came up together, well, as long as I had enough air in the right rear:o
Now, with my new 505 inch engine, I am back to the same thing again, yankin the left front and the right rear is dropping again, so I need more air in the bag now, and I also am slipping on the line at the start! some times I hook a 1:48 60ft. and then back to the low 50's, so, in my thoughts, and the amount of torque your making now, I would say either do what George says, add a sway bar, an air bag, or more bars, you will buckel the panel between the side window and the rear window over time, and you will see the paint start to bubble and then be bummed. If you can afford it, add two bars to the front frame from your main cage if you have a main cage, if not, you may want to do the air bag thing, I also like George said, go sideways from time to time, and then more sway bar adj. and it goes straight again now, but it rams my rear axle down so hard that I sit there waiting for the chassis to react to the torque! like a rubber band, let go and then whamoo, but I am making way more torque than I was in 2004 so I will tame down my launch to see what happens, and add air to my right rear bag, hope this helps out!!!!!! I am having problems also, so don't feel bad, and guess what, it will cost a bunch to get it done right, then take the Nostalgia right out of the car:( , but YOU make the decision on what you want to do, we all want to go fast but, the consistancy goes away also as well. I am running 10:02 from my last test pass at Milan, and it is spinning the tires doing it, the short time #'s are so consistant that if I can get off the line the same way every time, I will have something, but rain looks bad for now. Let us know how you do next time out would ya? and did you get a hold of Phil S.?

You guys need to install the BIGGEST anti roll bar you can find, and you need to have a good 12 point cage. The cage is for safety, but you also get a TON of chassis stiffness form them too. A sway bar (factory style) that is 50' wide and 1' or smaller in diameter, will only make about 50lbs. of anti rotational spring. With the widths of your cars, you should try to find at least an 1 1/2" anti roll bar, put about 1 to 1/2 turns of preload (lengthen the passanger side) and you will see straight and flat launches. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice George.
I've been wanting to add more cage to the car anyway. I'm reaching the 10's and almost 120mph, and the only support I have on the top front of the car is the little beam that holds the windshield in. If I roll my 4000lb car, the front would be a pancake.
I may be swapping the rear end out this winter, so while I do the swap I'll add the adjustable anti-roll bar.

Andy, I have an anti-roll bar that I took out of the Malibu when I switched to ladder bar, its not top of the line but it worked fine for me..You can have it. Its missing one heim end (its at US60 somewhere lol). Drop me a line and we'll meet somewhere if you want it, and believe me, its stout enough for your land barge. Congrats on the killer e/t's.
