Mike, will Andrew also get a spot on the RECORDS page under the RACE RESULTS from the main page? I see they have not updated them with the fla race yet for any classes but was just wondering if TRUE STREET would be added there??? By the way was nice chatting with you in FLA. When the RACE RESULTS get updated, he should get his picture, name, best ET and winning average.

As for the 2007 stickers, send me your address and I'll mail you a couple.

It was nice finally meeting you, just wish the Camaro would have run to its full potential.

I wanted to post the best package, but not a winning package. I should post the most erratic win also. Just like the R/T, it means nothing, but fun to post. Maybe the worst red light too, maybe not!

As for the 2007 stickers,

I was talking about an ANNUAL TECH sticker. I actually found the 2007 1/4 glass stickers in my office at home. Hopefully the car will run a lil better with the turbo set up next time you see it..

Paul, that is a great idea! I can't promise anything, but maybe there is a way to come up with awards for each package at the end of the year.

Paul,

Bowling Green is right in Terry Herbert's back yard and he has that Monte set on kill for the 10 second index. It will be fun watching two great competitors like yourselves duke it out for the index win!

Man I am so sorry you could not finish the cruis. Ward was right, I was all wound up for some really close 10 sec index racing. I was primed, the car was dead on. Some how I still did not win the 10 sec index, but runneer up. I was totally suprised by that!!!!!:D :D The black caprice told me he was capable of an 8 sec run, but blew up on a 10.06. Will you be at the Columbus race? Or any other future races? I would like to go faster, but rules and no licence stop me. If I add more roll bar and get heavyer, I'll go slower. I need a lighter car !!!!!! See you at the next race...

Guys,

I was just thumbing through some back issues of the magazine as I recalled James Foldenauer and his Monza. In Bowling Green 2002 (our very first race) He ran: 8.387, 8.281, 8.685 for a 8.45 average. Later that year in Memphis, he ran 8.234, 8.282, 8.712 for a 8.409 average. I think it's open for debate if the car was what we'd call a street car, but it did fit the rules at the time. I do however remember we made some changes for 2003 to assure cars had hoods, no lexan windshields, etc. Just thought I'd pass along the info, and let you debate if you want to allow those runs to stand in this context.

Scott,

If you will remember correctly, I brought this point up in an FSC article. Whether or not the "Foldenauer Rules" were enacted in the best interest of the True Street class may be debatable, but the history of the class was clearly changed when James' car was no longer legal for True Street competition. On a Sunday morning in Cordova, I watched James Foldenauer click off an amazing 8.16 in then-legal True Street trim in front of the ESPN cameras.... AH! The good old days!

And just my two cents: If you drive your car on the street as often as James does, it IS a True Street car. Residents of Omaha, Nebraska and Council Bluffs, Iowa are quite familiar with the Monza as it rumbles around town often.

Oh yeah Ron, I forgot that pass. If I recall he broke after that. Yeah it's a toss up for sure, and as we all know defining what a street car is, is very, broad and very subjective. By my definition, it is a street car for sure.

I was lined up with him when he broke...

I still feel if Pat Musi wanted to put street tires on his ride, drive it 30 miles, and make 3 back to backs it should be legal (provided the horn, signals, etc. work)

NMCAMike

I find the Paul Ferrucci's pass more impressive, due to the size of the tire he runs. Like George states, "I still feel if Pat Musi wanted to put street tires on his ride, drive it 30 miles, and make 3 back to backs it should be legal (provided the horn, signals, etc. work)" That is NOT what we want in True Street. Foldenauer's Monza was a big tire car and maybe weighted in at maybe 2000 lbs. The art form in making a small DOT radial go 8's is what its all about, not to mention Ernie Keppler on a set of Douglas (wal-mart specials) going 10's with the white walls out.

Anyone can take a gutted Pro car or supergas car thats 2400 pounds fully chassied and runs a 632 or a 540 with 2 kits and run that number but its more impressive to see a full interior & fully glass 3000 plus car go with a SMALL et street or radial and run a fast number!!!
I rather watch a 10inch tire car drag the bumper than a pro car:cool:

I agree........the small tire is the equalizer and so is the weight even though we don't check for that in this class but the cars I have seen and saw at Rt.66 were pretty stock looking cars with interiors to match. That was a nice bunch of cars and Jeep, whatever they are considered.:D

i agree street cars should be real cars with small dot tires and stock suspensions, bolt on hoods, and full interiors...
not to brag but my car is stock suspension on radials not slicks and it weighed a hefty 3700lbs on that last pass with all the fuel and ice in it
it was 8.32@167 @3700lbs:D

shooting for 7 sec passes at the superbowl next year cant wait

Greg,

I agree with your statement, but I think it is cool to have a full tube chassis street car that will run 7's and you ACTUALLY drive it on the streets. Heck, here in Topeka it is not unheard of to see GMC 14-71 blown, alcohol-swilling, big tire, tube chassis, ear shattering cars cruising around town. I guess I am just lucky not to live in a place where people don't live "on the edge."

Sounds to me like the 8.16 pass was made in LEGAL TRIM at the time. So to date its the fastest TRUE STREET PASS MADE.. Theres no doubt its harder to run those #s now with all the weight but technology is also much better now too.The tire has NOTHING to do with it. My car 60 foots in the 1.20s on a 295 radial at 3671 lbs. These tires hook as good as any 33" tall SLICK I ever used. Certainly Ferrucci has the capability to grasp the record. Ill go out on a limb and say that 8.16 will not remain intact through the 2008 season. Im amazed PAULs car is that heavy . With the tubular control arms, no inner fenders and small block. I still have all that crap in my car and its 3671 with a big block and 15 gallons of ice and water and 12 gallons of fuel in the trunk. All my Intercooler tubing is Stainless too which is HEAVY..I have a 69 tilt column , factory steering wheel , factory carpets with sound deadening under it , all garbage that adds up. OH and I think my fat ass is 100 lbs heavier than Paul too HA HA... HE must have a concrete cage in his.. WE have been talking about all the weight I can shave losing that crap while the cars down anyway. I think we could shave 200 lbs. 1800 HP in a 3450 lbs car would be nice.
