Hi Guys,

Congrats to all that ran ovr the weekend in FL. I was a little surprised that out of almost 40 cars (great turn out!!) the winning average was a 9.95. Humm............maybe there is stil hope for our little 9.40 car :) Hope to meet up with old friends soon.

Dang, now I wish we would have went to Fl. My Hubby's car had a good shot at being King. We ran at Maple Grove in 06' and had traction problems but were able to win the 10 sec. crown, but his one pass was a 9.48 getting on and off the juice. This year we tested at Maple with a taller tire and new trans-spec. 10" converter and got a 9.34 only spraying 200 shot at around 100. If we can get traction,I am hoping he runs high 8 low 9's.

Mark, I might as well poke fun at myself. Especially when its my own fault for not listening to my engine builder or my tuner. The disgust is usually gone by the time I leave the track. This combo has not been reliable at all and still I continued to spend cash hauling the car thousands of miles hoping it would hold the power round after round. The 1164 rear wheel hp the blower makes is plenty for the car but as you have witnessed first hand at several races I cant keep belts on it past the half track beams. THe car ran 5.40s in the 1/8 which a tribute to how well the blowers move air. HOWEVER , The issue has moved from BRACES now to BELT SPEED . Ive wiped out thousands of dollars worth of belts, fans, crank triggers etc all the while spendind boatloads more changing and making braces wider idlers, wider belts pulley combos. Spetter said it best last fall when the car gutted 3 belts in one dyno session. TURBOs DONT HAVE BELTS. Between the chassis shop and engine changes Im out for 2-3 months. Looks like Ill spend my time off doing a lil turkey hunting and cruising the Harley around. I needed a vacation anyway..

Chase, thats the beauty of the class. At any given event, any car has the chance of being KING.. If a car cant run the # round after round. Load him up and send him home with nothing. You gotta show to win and theres NEVER a sure thing. TRUE STREET is an awesome class for that reason. ONLY the strong and ( reliable ) survive. I LOVE IT !!!!!!!!!!!

Wow that is strange. How many other people are having the same problem? Maybe you are just that 1 in a million guy like me that things happen to. I am waiting for my intake to get back here. I had the new one built and 2 new stages put on it and it didn't look good at all. The real kicker was when I couldn't put my distributor in and the car linkage hit some of the tubing. It is being redone right now by another shop and I should have it early in the week. I hope to make some test laps next weekend. I am heading out to put some oil in it and prime it and drain my fuel and change the filters. Then I am going to wash the trailer. Have fun..........

Mark, Actually its very common with F2s being spun MAX.. I have met half a dozen racers who have had the same issues and been told of several more. Some have been upgraded to F3s like they offered to do for me so they dont have to spin the blowers so hard. Others have bumped up compression so they dont have to spin the blowers max. Jim Sommers told me himself this past weekend that best case scenario would be getting a weekend from a belt and 25-30 passes before I need to ship him the blower for a rebuild. If I was spinning the blower slower it would have better longevity. Unfortunately Im doing this with 8:1 compression which requires I spin the be jesus outta the blower to make the HP I need. Some guys have had great experiences with prochargers and they definitely make the power. Chucky Bartholme actually lost a belt on his extreme street car in the semis last weekend or he would have set the 7 second record then. The belts are the weak links and some combos expose them more than others. With the 2-300 hp Im going to save not driving a blower belt my car should knock on the 7s without pushing the envelope too far. Tiny built the engine to take an honest 2000 HP but my weak link in that HP range is the chassis. I dont want to push it that far so Spetter is setting it up for a streetable 16-1800.

a streetable 16-1800.

Maybe I will just have the guy plumb a 3rd stage before he sends it back.

Just don't do any "parking" on the cruise........unless you keep the car running.

Florida was the first race shes been to for a number of years. My mom was in town and watched the kids for us so it gave her a chance to come. It wasnt too much fun for her to come and chase the kids around and try to enjoy the racing when they were little. Before the kids were born she was a regular at the track every weekend. Now she has informed me that I need to buy her a car she can compete in the TRUE STREET class with. We are leaning towards a Grand National. Know anyone with a clean , unmolested 87 ???
