I just found out yesterday that RON WARD has been asked to run the post run tech inspection for the contingency classes. He will have his hands busy getting that very important job lined out for the NMCA down at the big end of the track and unfortunately WILL NOT be involved in TRUE STREET this year. Though I look forward to seeing him at the events I run he surely will be missed in the TRUE STREET PITS.Good luck on your new venture RON....
I hope Mike Bruns is as accessable and receptive to all of us as Ron has been. Ron monitors our board, chimes in on all the issues and is always pushing for people to come out and run with us. Im sending him an email today to see what he will be doing about this 9 second index and records thing. Hopefully he will come join the board.

Guys,
I wanted to take a moment and let you know what is going on.
Mike Bruns will be your new True Street Coordinator. It seems when NMRA picked up a new sponsor for the Wild Street class (now renamed TRUE STREET) they wanted someone who could work both sides of the NMRA/NMCA race schedule. Since Mike will be driving the big red truck with the registration trailer behind it to all 15 races and is very fluent in the ways of the NMCA, NMRA and NHRA rulebooks, he was a great (and obvious) choice for the position of T/S coordinator. He is a great guy and is occasionally overwhelmed with calls. Please be patient with him. He really likes the class and enjoys checking out all the different combinations that show up to run in it.
Now, on to myself. As I understand it, I will be doing pre-race and post-race contingency verification for NMCA. Apparently, our contingency sponsors are asking us to be a bit more thorough in our inspections. I will be verifying that the cars not only have the correct contingency decals (some decals change from year to year and the old ones no longer qualify) but also that the decal is representing the EXACT product being used. For example, if a racer is displaying a Holley HP Series carb decal then I will verify, in fact, the decal is current for the 2007 racing season and the carb is a Holley HP Series and not a standard issue 3310-1 or similar carb. I know this can be a pain, so I recommend you CALL your prospective contingency sponsors and have them provide you with the CORRECT decals for the product(s) you are using. As a courtesy to our racers, a majority of these decals are available at the NMCA registration trailer. NMCA is NOT required to provide contingency decals for the racers. It is the racers' responsibility to obtain the correct decal(s). Believe me, folks. I know there are many racers who feel this is going to be a big headache, but I feel confident that if we do a more thorough job of verifying you are following the the exact criteria for contingency payout, the sponsors are going to be extremely satisfied. As far as contingency payouts are concerned, if problems are encountered, direct all correspondence to Aaron Hahn at the ProMedia offices. He will be happy to provide you with contact information for our contingency sponsors. (He is also a pretty good shot on the pool table.)
Since True Street is not a contingency oriented class (and rightly so!) I probably won't get to see too many of you guys. I would really like to see you folks, so if you get a couple of minutes, come over to the tech area at the scales and say hello. I am gonna miss True Street...
Take care folks!

Following the best True Street coordinator ever, will be a daunting task. Filling the shoes of Ron Ward will not be easy. He has done a fantastic job in the past and should be a natural for the new position as the contingency verification person. Ron will be in the tech area (by the scales) so, feel free to stop in at anytime. As the car count grows, and I'm overwhelmed with 30 cars, Ron will be my first pick to help out.
I'm really looking forward to meeting everybody at the many tracks the NMCA travels to. I have met a couple of True Street contestants in the past and for what I have gathered, this should be a great time.
If anybody has any questions, please feel free to call the tech line 714-460-3813 from 3-7PM EST on Tuesday-Thursday.
