This board gets boring sometimes. Just wondering what everyone's plans are for the 2007 season? Any new drivers? Car changes? Anyone going faster etc?

First things first: Andy what are your plans?

My main plan is to put the big beast on a little diet. Here's what I'm getting done.

Aerospace brakes (getting rid of the power brakes and miles of vaccum line)
Manual steering box (freeing up hp, less weight)
Adjustable control arms in the back, moroso springs, antiroll bar, aluminum drive shaft, new shocks
Beefing up the 10bolt with some 33 spline Mosers and Spool
Fiberglass hood

I'm hoping to shed 150-200lbs. I think the hood will be close to 100 of it haha.

I'm going to see how the same set up does with these changes. Should put me in the low low 11's since I've been in the 11.40's in cool weather. That'll give me the chance to run C/NMC all year this year. After that I'm going to swap out the 3.90's for some 4.56's. I have 900rpm that's not being used on the top end. It may put me in the high 10s? *shruggs*

Racing wise... I plan to hit all 7 races this year. I did well my first full season. Learned alot for sure, which may help me this year.

Another goal is to put my Dad in the seat of a NSS ride. That would be nice. Anyone have one for sale? Doesn't have to be fast. He prefers the 63-65 Mopars.

Pending the outcome of the Super Truck class I may be setting in a Ford this
year. If the S/T class does not exist I will probably semi-retire at least one of the trucks and run either NMC or Open Comp with our Ford Futura. All still in
limbo pending the organizations decision on Super Truck. Hopefully we will have a class and I haven't wasted thousands of dollars on a new motor and
other truck updates.

See ya-all in Brafenton, one way or another.

Randy, sorry to see you may not have a class. Andy, I got just what your father needs, a 62 Chevy Biscayne, you just have to find a 409, I haven't been able to find one.

Is the car set up? He's wanting something that's pretty much ready to roll. Not in the shape to put alot of work into one.

No Andy, I was half kidding. I do have a 62 Biscayne that I took in trade on a transmission job, but it is rustier that I first thought. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. I had planned to find a 409 and put it in with a 4 speed and make a street curiser out of it. But finding a deal on an 09 has proved impossible and it is looking like a lot of work to make anything out of this car. Will keep my eye open for something. Have you checked with Shemwells? They are always trading on something.

Who made the hood?

If the hood saves you 100 lbs, just think if you could get the trunk done too!

WarrenRacing71

Glasstek made it. I weighed it yesterday, it was 42lbs. Once I get the factory hood off I'll weigh it too. I don't think it'll be 100lbs dropped, maybe 40-50. Still alot though. I was lucky and they did a one off mold for someone some time ago with a 1972 Impala which has the same hood as mine. I asked about a trunk lid, they said no.

I'm picking the car up next week, it's just about ready. Most of the list of things I posted has been done. I'm also adding rear wheel disk brakes and an aluminum radiator.

This little Skylark is now definately for sale. Can be had for just under 2K. Body solid but would need drivetrain for NSS.

Mike:
That was exactly what I was looking for 6 years ago. I could not find a post car for anything. So I built a hardtop car and now you have me one. Actually I just had a guy call me tonight, trying to sell me a 66 wagon. I think I'm going to try to trade him my 62 Biscayne for it. I have given up on finding a 409 I can afford. I can put a whole drive train in the 66 Buick that will run in the 11's for what I can buy a pile of junk 409 parts to start. Mike hope to see you soon. I'm trying to get ready for Bradenton.

Let me know if you run across somebody interested. The young fellow that owns it is motivated.

Good luck with the wagon and at Bradenton!

Just wanted to come by and indroduce myself.

My name is Andy Caldwell and I have a basically Factory Stock 70 Superbee 383 Auto that I will be making my Nostalgia Muscle Car Class debut at Bradenton in 2 weeks.

I have been racing my bee on and off for over 23 years (Brackets, and for last couple of years in Factory Stock) In Factory Stock trim I posted a best of 13.76 at 100.33 mph running on repro Polyglas's.

But there are no factory stock races in Florida so I researched for another way to race my car in rules based structure. I learned about the NMCA and more specifically the NMC class. It looked like a good fit for my Bee so I joined NMCA and will be bringing my Bee to the Bradenton race!

The only changes I made to my Bee from it's factory stock configuration was the addition of a set of M&H street tires and front runners mounted on a set of Cragar S/S (To give the Bee some consistancy in traction and a cool nostalgia look) a set of 90/10 shocks, removal of the front sway bar and a torque strap for the motor. I left the motor alone as I really did not want make any major changes to it as I still would like to occasionally run some factory stock events in the future. I plan to be running in the H/NMC class allthough if I lucky maybe I'll sneek into the G/NMC class index.

Here are a couple of pictures of my Bee and I hope to meet some of you at Bradenton.

Big Jim...................

I bought me a 72 GS - 455 over the weekend.
I think I'll do it up for NMC in 08.
I was going to do a NSS car but this one came available
which was owned by a local fellow racer who passed away
two years ago, so I went with it.
I'm not going to FL next week due to several reasons,
so I'll start the year off in BG.:) :) :)

Glad to see you are getting in a Buick. I guess you will have a chance to use those 455s you had for sale. Wished you could have found you a NSS car but understand about the 72. Will miss you in Flordia.
