What can be done about the Carb rule for Pontiacs in NSS? It says either a Tri-power/2X4's or single quadrajet- problem is my car came with a single 4 Carter. The tri-powers and under hood 2X4'S don't flow near enough for my heads. Can this rule be considered for a change to allow 4150's??

Try this......

We have created a procedure for proposing official NMCA rules clarifications to the NMCA rules committee. If you would like to submit a rules change or clarification for consideration, this is the ONLY way to initiate the process.

Write a detailed letter to NMCA explaining the specific changes you are suggesting to the printed rulebook. Please refer to class, rulebook section (#1-#13) and specific subheading. Detail the "wording" changes that you are proposing. In the second paragraph, please explain the "reasoning" behind the change, and detail how you believe it will affect the best interests of the class as a whole. Please include your name, car number, and contact information including address, telephone, and e-mail.

Send this e-mail to: tech@fasteststreetcar.com. All e-mails sent to tech@fasteststreetcar.com will be forwarded to the entire NMCA rules committee members.

Within two weeks, follow up with any member of the rules committee to get the result of the rules change proposal for consideration to the committee. If you have specific questions from this point forward they should be addressed via e-mail address is tbates@promediapub.com.

The NMCA Tech Committee will review the rules change proposal, and NMCA will formally respond in writing to the racer within 2 weeks from original submission. All NMCA formal rules proposals sent in the proper format to tech@fasteststreetcar.com will get a response within 2 weeks.

Have you heard anything on your request? Ava 's car would run better on a 4150 style also.

Mike I sent a similiar request on the carburetors for the Buick and I still have no replay either. I doubt it will happen. I've never been able to get anywhere on any rules.

Most of the cars running NSS are Mopars -- and we're saddled with AFBs.

I use to think we were saddled -- but Damon Kuhn at Diamondback Engines can modify a pair of 800 AFBs to make my car run a 9.61 @143 -- and Larry Quinn has a pair and runs high 8s in his 61 Catalina.

Big K. I don't have a problem running with the AFBs except I have a chance for a good sponsorship form a friends carburetor business if I run Holley type carburetors. I have run the AFBs for 6 years and never had issues with them. Guess they were good enough to win the Championship, but would like to have the option of the Holleys. Not a big deal, can step it up to 9.75 and run them or injectors.

Well it has been over a year since the original post on this rule change and it has had 1150+ views and not one response after multiple emails to the tech dept. Am I the official thread killer?

No word yet Rick. I talked to Trey last week and gave him all the info needed but still have not heard anything. I am hoping we will get some info soon so I can finish my combo without spending another $2000 for a intake a carb set-up to replace the current that is a year old. I guess all the BOP guys that are wanting a change on this should probably email and call to show there is allot of interest.

Hey Mike I have been NSS racing since their was a NSS class. Go to Nostalgia super stock.com our group has several pontiacs running and the slowest one is in the low 10's the fastest ran a 8.89 in legal NSS trim at monster Mopar las september. All have the dual Carters under the hood. That was supposed to be part of the fun of the NSS class when it was started, a little challenge in tuning, and getting a big old boat to run down the track.
When I first swaped out my single dominator for a cross ram, I lost 3 tenths, several years later the car runs 6 tenths quicker, it just takes a little tinkering.

Thanks RR- I have been running NSS for years along with other index classes like it. Have been racing the car for 22 years- my problem lies with intake availability with the E-heads. There is not a under the hood 2x4 set-up that will work on the Hi-port E-heads without allot of fab work and welding.
