Well I want to come up for the Atlanta race but i have a couple problems. First, I don't have an NHRA license. Can I make the license passes on Friday night during test and tune and still have my license count for the True Street race? Also, my chassis cert expired in April of this year. Is there any way to get a new cert on friday? One last question, my headers interfere with the metal strap for the tranny shield that fits under the pan therefore I can't install the strap. Is that going to be an issue?
Thanks

I don't think you can run till you submit you signed license run card and then send it along with your physical results to your division. So you might want to try to expedite you passes.

OK, Here is how True Street works in a nutshell....
ALL cars and drivers must meet NHRA safety requirements for the speeds and ET's posted by their cars. If safety equipment is required for your speed or ET, then it is required to be installed CORRECTLY. It is kind of pointless to go to the expense of buying the equipment if it is not going to do you any good due to improper or incomplete installation, wouldn't you agree? Get your license BEFORE the event. To my knowledge, there will not be any chassis certification people at the event. Best bet is to contact your NHRA division office and find a chassis inspector and have it certified prior to the event.
Also...
Two of the biggest stumbling points I have found in tech inspection for True Street are: improper or lack of proof of insurance and dealer/temp tags. I will NOT accept photocopies of insurance cards or paperwork. You MUST have the insurance ID card as issued by your insurance company and it must specify (usually by VIN number) that the car entered in the event is covered by the policy. Dealer and temporary tags are absolutely forbidden. If your car is not properly registered, get it done NOW.
I have worked the majority of the MSD True Street events and I really enjoy the class. All cars are gone over with a fine-tooth comb (Just ask Mark Schankweiler, Gary Willders or Tony MacDonald) and kept on an even playing field. We always have a good time at the events and the competitors are always willing to help police the field. I look forward to meeting you in person and I hope you can bring your ride to Atlanta and compete with us in True Street.
If you have any further questions, comments or suggestions, feel free to email or PM me.
Thanks!

It should be good on everything but that tranny shield strap. I just thought I would ask ahead of time instead of driving all the way there and not being able to compete. Any ideas on that strap? I will not give up easy!!! I WILL be at that event!!! Thanks for the answers and I'm calling an inspecter tommorrow. I hate having issues at tech that ruin the weekend so I promise it will be fixed by then. Your right, there is no reason any safety equipment should be skimped on.
Thanks again

Adam,
Transmission shields and other safety equipment are presented to SFI for approval as a complete unit. If this unit does not fit, do not by any means alter it. Contact the manufacturer of the shield and ask their opinion for installation. They may have encountered this fitment difficulty already and have an idea how to install it safely.
Good luck,
