Are convertibles legal in NSS? The rules state:

7: BODY
NSS CLASSES: Topless cars prohibited. Lightweight replacement parts permitted for fenders, hood, doors, deck lid, and bumpers. External modification of any body panel that will alter the stock bodyline is prohibited. The body must be finished & painted.

Isn’t a Convertible top still a Top? We’re thinking of buying a Legal NHRA Super Stock car that happens to be a Convertible. But before we do we need to know that it will be Legal for PRO events. A response from PRO will be Appreciated.

Heath, that rule "topless cars prohibited" is concerning F/X and disallows the old topless cars(Melrose Missle,Jack Chrisman, etc)...but as for convertibles, it has been an accepted fact that they do qualify for NSS. Ya JUST HAVE TO RUN EM WITH THE TOP UP.

Heath, the convertable is allowed. Like Mark said, the top must be up during its pass down the 1320.

Heath...check the rulebook for NHRA roll bar requirements...there is a slight difference between converts and hardtops.

...bye the way Heath....what is the car? Something that we may recognize? A Ford for sure!

We did go and look at the car and we are not real sure that the cage is legal. We were going to take our NHRA rulebook with us but someone (Dad) lost the book. And another question, is a HEMI legal in a 1964 Plymouth Convertible? Because, we know that convertibles didn’t have HEMI’s. Thank you all for your Input!
