As soon as I get clarification on the 50lb weight break I will let you know. Along with the base weight vs 8.5
Sorry for any confusion at this time.

Lance,
If you are going to run the stock suspension, to get the 50lb weight break, you cannot add coilover shocks.

The use of coilover shocks will not get the 50lb weight break.

John,
I would need more info on your car: carb/trans/susp. also
there has been a rule revision in the weight of Pro Stock.
10. Base Weight / Classes: Pro Stock
Effective immediately, Section 13 base weights are revised as follows:
ENGINE BASE CI BASE WEIGHT
Small Block 360 2900
Small Block 400 3100
Small Block 415 3150
Small Block 440 3200
Big Block 477 3350
Big Block 525 3450
11. Weight Break / Classes: Pro Stock
Add to Section 13: "All Small Block Chevrolet Combinations - deduct 50 pounds from base weights."

so the rear shocks have to be in the stock location also? or just the springs? If I read the rules it only said the spring has to be in the stock location for Pro Stock.

Mark,
If your car has coil springs, they must remain in the stock location. If you have leaf springs, you may move them inward. As for the shocks, keep them as close to the factory location as possible.

If I have the stock type coil spring in the stock location. then can I take the springs off my coilovers & just use the coilover shock without a spring on it?
no they will not be in the stock location, but the rules don't say the shock needs to be in "stock location".
IMO this is ok
just so I can race in Pro Stock I will need to add 315 lbs of weight, if I can take 50 lbs off of that it would help a lot. I don't even know if I can hang that much weight on my car:mad:
414" & a jerico, but I do have stock suspension with coilovers.

Mark,
It will be legal to use the coilover shocks without the springs. Is there a possible way for you to send me a photo as to the location of the shocks?
As for the 315 lbs, please check the general regulations 4:2 of the NHRA rule book BALLAST for proper attachment.

PROMike,
Thanks.... I can get you a pic in a few days, the springs will be on the coilovers in the pic, but you'll get an idea on location.
Thanks Mark
