Pro Mike, you and I have emailed several times about allowing the superchief head for the traditional pontiac in the xtreme street class. I wish to discuss this in a public forum so there can be clarity on this.

Upon asking why the superchiefs were not allowed, you stated rule 1.17c, that the intake bolt pattern was not in the OEM location for these heads. I respectfully disagreed by pics and the verification by former tech Wesley Roberson. You then stated that the head was a raised roof design and the bolt holes were higher (tho in the OEM location?) I would understand this ruling if no spacers were allowed and other raised roof designs are not allowed. SMALL BLOCK CHEVY spacers are allowed and raised roof SBC heads are allowed, I am confused by your ruling.

I would like to be a participant in this class. BUT if the rules are set up favoring other makes, ( with SUPERIOR HEAD FLOW by the way) and the superchief heads are not allowed in this class, I respectfully ask for a weight break of 150lbs for guys wanting to run a traditional pontiac with 60+ cfm less head flow than other makes allowed. I am sure the tech committee knows that HP of any engine is limited by the air flow potential of the heads on X,Y or Z brand of engine.

Here are just a couple of examples of BBC heads allowed.
Dart 360-430+ cfm
Dart Pro 355 430+ cfm

By comparison here is the best pontiac head allowed at the same weight of a BBC:
Pontiac Edelbrock 360+ cfm

By choosing to run a traditional pontiac engine of say 500 cubes I basicly have a small block head on a big cube engine.

I do not want an unfair advantage over other makes of engines. I just want to be treated fairly with the limited availability of heads that I have to choose from running a traditional pontiac engine.

I think they just like the CHEVY/FORD rival thing and don't want anybody running anything else.

I asked a question about this last year and got a lot of "what are you going to run" questions like there all scared.:D

Looks like pro mike will not have the courtesy to reply to my question of why the superchief heads will not be allowed in the xtreme street class.

I have no choice but to run in the NSCA series which allow these heads in their classes!

Must have plenty of entries already going and have a full field of cars.

J.C.,

Of course we care about you running with our program. It's just, at the time, and ever since the class was created, we have not, and do not feel that the Super Chief heads fit within the class guidelines. Xtreme Street has been very succesful and does have full fields with the existing rules.

Mike Bruns has not ignored your question. He has already provided you on the final answer on this matter, if you wish to discuss it further you can do it via phone or e-mail with Mr. Bruns. If you are looking to get feedback from other members of the class, that is fine, please understand that PRO officials don't generally conduct debates on public forums.

Unlike in Pro Stock, there are no brand-related weight breaks afforded in Xtreme Street. You might not agree with that, but that is the final decision that was made for the 2004 season.

I susposed i missed pro mikes reply to my question?

I do see a recent revision in the rules about intake spacers on heads? I suspose, if, this is my answer of why superchiefs cannot be run, then I can be assured that there will be no sbc chevie, etc. entries with intake spacers or runner extentions also.
