What makes these tires illegal? Is it the compound they are made from.

Here's the rule:
***
Permitted street-type D.O.T. radial tire list:
• BFGoodrich Comp T/A Drag Radial
• BFGoodrich G-force T/A Drag Radial
• Nitto NT555R Drag Radials
Also accepted: any approved radial-construction tire with a D.O.T. tread wear rating of 180 or greater that fits all other criteria and sizing.
***
M/Ts have a treadwear rating of 0.
Seems like none of the sanctioning bodies are really eager to let poeple use the M/Ts. I think it's because the tire works too well

Ed,
Try "loggin out" and you should be able to view the rules.
I know some folks were having the same problem when the rules were first posted...

That seems to be the general opinion. Seems they hook so well that most people with a lot of time in a drag radial suspension car fear that anyone can bolt on the M/T tires and run quicker with less tuning time. Just what I've heard....
