16 Volt System

I have a x/s car and have just installed a MSD Programmable Digital 7. Looking for input on the need/use of 16v battery. was looking at the new Turbo Start gel style battery. I currently run an alternator and a red top Optima. Have not had the new set-up to the track yet for testing. Does anyone in x/s run this set-up?

that setup with a Turbo Start 16V battery, Powermaster alternator, Digital 7. been running that combo for the last 4 years in the Car. i know others are using a 12V system successfully. good luck

I'm pretty sure that gel battery uses a different charger than the wet 16 volt. I think you can modify the old 16 volt charger though. Hope this helps.

differnet charger, and on the turbostart webpage you can get instructions on how to adjust the wet style charger to the newer voltage settings.

If you go to a Turbo Start Gel it comes with a chip to convert their chargers.
