is it possible to run a car that didn't have a v-8 from the factory? i have a pinto wagon i was thinking about building it to run in this class. it would be at the minimum weight called for the class and the motor will be built to the rules. wasn't planning on any suspension up grades but to put a 8.8 rear and use the leaf springs, but the rear has to be narrowed to be the same as the stock pinto. thanks

The rules include car and trucks 1950 and later. I don't believe that they allow front wheel drive conversions though. Since your Pinto was built after 1950 and was not a front wheel drive I think it would be legal. I would contact PRO tech. just to make sure. Also my best advice would be to read every rule LINE BY LINE, because if need be Wesley(PRO Tech. Director) will have you read it to him at the track. LOL In the last two seasons PRO has to the best of my knowlage enforced the rules exactlly as written. Hope this helps Andy Legg C/S #5

Frank,

Your Pinto wagon is more than welcome in cheap street. Like Andy said " read the rule book, line by line" and if any questions arise, please shoot us an e-mail. You also need to read the E.T. section 1A Super Pro, Pro and sportsman 7:50 seconds and slower of the NHRA rule book.
