I want to get into sso with a 1973 pinto wagon.
I know its a short wheel base car but I want to give it a shot.
Can you guys plz send me some pic's of ur chassie I need help with how much of a roll cage I will need in there. At the moment I am thing that a 12 pt cage with funnycar bars set up in it would be good. But I want to make sure I am going to do this right. and what rear gear ratio is mostly used in this class. and what is mostly used for the rear suspension. I have leaf springs and stuff but is it worth it to go to coil over 4 link

The NHRA has certain chassis certifications you have to meet depending on your ET.
You need to go here (http://store.nhra.com/) and order the NHRA rule book for starters. This will get you the info needed to determine your chassis spec.

When you go 9.99 or quicker you need license from the NHRA, see the link below:
http://www.nhra.com/contacts/forms.html

Super Street is a tough, tough class. Those guys have over 100K in them and they are crazy fast.
Up near the top of the page under the big "08" click on "Racers" then go to "Class Rules" and look through the other classes, maybe you can find one you can fit in without spending Super Street money. Good Luck

I wanted to race in mean street but i was told the only heads up class would be able to race in with my car is sso. my pinto has a custom fiber glass front end from over seas. I have some small sponsers aboard. I read the rule book for nhra i know about the licensing as well. I just wanted to make sure that I had the cage that i needed. I know more bars will be needed then i stated but I need to see a build or something. Its been since augest sice I seen a sso car so i don't remember exactly how it's apost to be set up. I have a 8 point cage in it now and I am willing to make the mods that i need to get the chassie right for the class. I might not be able to make it this season but next season you can coun't on me to be in the game.

You might also contact Mike Moran (moranmotorsports.com, Taylor Michigan), since he ran a Pinto wagon in the higher classes back in the early 90's (Pro Street, at the time).

Im thinking of being the first Pinto Wagon in the world to go that fast with that short wheel base. No one wants to try it but me. I think with a pinto wagon will really show a drivers skill. It is going to be a hard ride to tame but im up for all challenges. I also think if people can see that I can handle a vehicle like this, that one day I could be a driver for a Pro-Stock team in NHRA. I always like to stand out of a crowed and be different and this will really show how different I can be. Everyone always see's mustangs, nova's, camaro's stuff like that but how many people will ever see a pinto wagon go this fast. Not many!!! I will Just like to bring something different to the table...

I have decided to use my 1978 pinto wagon for sso and decided to use my 1973 pinto wagon for bracket racing.
