Understanding Crank Triggers

As early as the eighties, production muscle cars have started moving away from distributors. Today, they are all but extinct from the lexicon of powertrain engineers, yet we still rely on these ancient pieces of mechanical wizardry to control our small-blocks and big- blocks. Unless you have an Optispark, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it comes with some limitations. Chief among them is its ability to produce an electronic signal that says at what point the engine is in its cycle, so it knows when to fire each spark plug. However, a crank trigger can certainly change all that. To learn more about crank triggers and how they may apply to your engine, click >>HERE<<
