Mickey Thompson Returns as Super Street Class Sponsor

The legendary Mickey Thompson will return for 2013 as the class sponsor of the NMCA’s Super Street 10.5W. Mickey Thompson has been heavily involved in big and small tire drag racing since 1963 and will again be posting contingency money to drivers.

The Super Street 10.5W class, also known as “the tiny-tire freak show,” holds the fastest and quickest stock-bodied vehicles in the NMCA series. Super Street 10.5W entries are permitted small block and big block engines up to and including a maximum of 905 ci depending on combination, and compete with up to a 33×10.5”W” tire. Single power adder supercharged, nitrous oxide, or turbocharged engine combinations are allowed and the class is for 1950 and newer American production cars and trucks.

Mickey Thompson Performance Tires designs, develops and distributes specialty tires for the street, strip, track, and off-road. Since its founding in 1963, the company has championed many firsts in the tire industry, from wide low-profile street tires to rugged, aggressive-tread off-road tires. Designing and producing innovative tread patterns and compounds to build the best performance tires in the world was our focus then, and is still our focus today.

The company will also offer contingency awards for all Pro and Sportsman classes including Pro Street, Super Street 10.5W, Nostalgia Pro Street, Xtreme Street, Pro Stock, Drag Radial, Mean Street, Late-Model EFI, Open Comp, Nostalgia Super Stock, Muscle Car and special event classes.
Pro class competitors who earn the win using four Mickey Thompson tires will earn a $300 award, with $150 to be awarded to the runners-up.

In the Sportsman classes, winning racers will earn $150, and runners-up will receive $75. Additional payouts will be awarded to winners and runners-up using four Mickey Thompson wheels in the Pro Street, Super Street, Nostalgia Pro Street, Xtreme Street, Pro Stock and Drag Radial classes.
