Milan Dragway in Milan, Michigan, hosts the next-to-last stop of the 2012 NMCA tour over the weekend of August 24-26, 2012. As the home of the 6th Annual JE Pistons NMCA Muscle Car Nationals Featuring the Ford Racing Cobra Jet Showdown, Milan Dragway offers up an awesome track surface and top-notch track staff to ensure the consistency and performance of the NMCA racers’ machines. Last year at this event, Jamie Stanton set the elapsed time record in the CFE Xtreme Street class with a 7.84 blast, while the Comp Cams Pro Stock field was separated by only .011-second during the qualifying sessions. As this event is in the backyard of the Big 3, just a few miles from Detroit, you can expect to see some awesome machines both on the racetrack and in the car show.

One of the unique things about this even is the Cobra Jet Showdown. The Cobra Jet program has been thrashed out here at Milan Dragway, as Ford Racing’s engineers have spent countless hours testing, modifying, and re-testing the racing program to make sure that it’s 100% reliable for its customers. The decision to hold a Cobra Jet race here was an easy one, and in 2011 there were 30 of the factory-built hot rods in competition in three different classes. Look for this event to grow in 2012 with a new model-year release coming on the CJ program and Ford Racing’s continued backing.

Can I race?
Milan Dragway has one of the best racing surfaces in the country as evidenced by the performances put up each month by the racers in their awesome Heads-Up program, and you can have the opportunity to show off your skills in the driver’s seat on the track alongside the NMCA’s stars in one of the various classes designed to satisfy the entry-level racer. The TREMEC True Street class has always been a racer favorite, with awards given out to the racers closest to each second increment, along with the overall quickest car and the runner-up, after their 30-mile cruise and three dragstrip passes are complete. 2011’s event saw Chris Bishir and his ’82 S-10 take the top spot with a 9.214 three-run average. Mark Scordato came in as the runner-up with his cool ’68 convertible GTO with a 9.357 average over his three passes. Want to battle it out against some of Detroit’s finest iron? Make your way to Milan Dragway for this event.

In addition, entry-level racers fit into the Open Comp, Nostalgia Muscle Car, and Late Model EFI classes, so take a look at the class rules and make your plans to come out and race with the best Ford racers in the country.
