The 11th Annual Quick Fuel Technology NMCA Muscle Car Nationals featuring the Dave Duell Nostalgia Super Stock Classic event takes place over the weekend of August 3-5, 2012. This awesome event will bring the stars of the NMCA to one of the most picturesque drag racing settings in the entire country, nostalgic Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky. As the home of the Chevrolet Corvette factory, Bowling Green is no stranger to fast cars, and that’s exactly what will be running rampant in the Kentucky rolling hills this weekend. Last year in the Indy Cylinder Heads Nostalgia Super Stock class, Barry Camp qualified at the top of the ladder with a perfect reaction time, while four other drivers tied for second with .001 reaction times. The number-ten qualifier in the class had a .011 reaction time – now that makes for great racing on Sunday! 56 Nostalgia Super Stockers were on the property last year, so if you’re a fan of the old-time hot rods battling it out for supremacy in the perfect setting, you need to make plans to attend this event now!

With all of those racers in the Dave Duell Nostalgia Super Stock Classic racers competing in different ET Brackets, there were a number of class winners last year. Kurt Neighbor took home the Factory Experimental Class Shootout in his ’65 Comet, while Barry Camp was the runner-up. Dave Schultz’s ’65 Coronet hit the winner’s circle in A/NSS, while Jim Guy’s cool ’64 Savoy took home the title in B/NSS. Donnie Wilson drove his ’65 Coronet to the top of the C/NSS bracket, while Ed Becker’s Belvedere took out the competition in D/NSS for the win. Kevin Miller outlasted the rest of the E/NSS bracket with his ’65 Coronet, and Brian Essary drove to the win in F/NSS with his ’65 Coronet. That’s four ’65 Coronets in the winner’s circle out of seven classes – think the car was a hit with the racers of the day?

Want to race?
Beech Bend Raceway Park has an excellent racing surface that’s always prepped to within an inch of its life – it’s a great place to find out whether you’ve got the power you think you do. You can have the opportunity to show off your skills in the driver’s seat on the track in one of the NMCA’s various classes designed to satisfy the entry-level racer. The TREMEC True Street class has always been a racer favorite, with awards given out to the racers closest to each second increment, along with the overall quickest car and the runner-up, after their 30-mile cruise and three dragstrip passes are complete. Last year at this event, Philpot, Kentucky’s Greg Mayton had the quickest car by far, with his 9.12 average taking out the runner-up by over a full second in the True Street class. For his efforts, Mayton won the True Street 6-foot tall trophy and the right to call himself ‘King Of Kentucky’ for the year.

In addition, entry-level racers fit into the Open Comp, Nostalgia Muscle Car, and Late Model EFI classes, so take a look at the class rules and make your plans to come out and race with the best Muscle Car racers in the country.
