66 Buick Special Project Car Update

We spent a few hours yesterday over at Rapp Racing doing the final assembly and installation of Trick Flow Specialties 550 HP GenX  top end upgrade kit to the LS2 which is in FSC’s project “Buck”- a 66 Buick Special. As advertised, the swap/install was a piece of cake.

While we had the engine out of the car we also swapped out the stock oil pan in favor of one of Holley’s LS retro-fit oil pans. The new pan was designed to deal with front suspension and steering clearance issues, which occur when LS-engines are retrofitted into older cars, such as our A-body. With the Buick, we didn’t have super serious issues, but did notice the drag link was making contact with the stock pan during extreme turning so we felt we’d better swap out pans to be on the safe side. We’ll have much more on the swap and the results from the dyno in a upcoming issue of Fastest Street Car and if we can reach that 550 HP range with this simple swap from TFS.
