The NMCA Flowmaster Muscle Car Nationals had a hugely successful season in 2011 with the introduction of many different specialty races and the addition of the four-race GM Performance Parts LSX Challenge series within the NMCA events. In addition to those popular event additions, this year the NMCA also paired up with the Aerospace Components NHRA Unleashed series, which provided each of the NMCA’s race winner’s throughout the year with a coveted “Wally” trophy. The trophy, named for NHRA founder Wally Parks, has long been considered the highest honor in drag racing. Each year the NMCA crowns its respective class champions in a ceremony held at the yearly Performance Racing Industry show in Orlando, Florida, held this year on December 2, 2011. Every single one of the NMCA’s 2011 class champions demonstrated the ability to get through a tough racing schedule while maintaining the focus required to operate a successful racing program. The specialty award winners were nominated and selected by their peers in the NMCA and were honored separately during the ceremony.
